City of Milwaukee Solo Rescue Decontamination System
Specification No. 42-B-41 July 31, 2025
CITY OF MILWAUKEE SPECIFICATION

PROVISIONS, TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS OR ANY ACCOMPANYING
SPECIFICATION AND BID, MAY BE DETERMINED AS A COUNTEROFFER AND MAY

1. GENERAL:
a. It is the intent of this specification to describe the decontamination system to be purchased by the City of Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD).
b. Application: The MFD needs a decontamination system to address the growing health risks associated with exposure to toxic substances encountered during firefighting operations. Firefighters are regularly exposed to carcinogens, chemicals, and biohazards that cling to their gear and equipment, increasing the risk of long-term health issues such as cancer and respiratory diseases.
A dedicated decontamination system allows the department to implement a consistent and effective cleaning process that meets NFPA standards, reducing cross-contamination between calls and protecting both firefighters and the community.
