PROJECT LOCATION AND POINT OF CONTACTS

Project Description

Commissioned circa 1960, the QLA OEF Building is a robust steel structure supporting the Emergency Operations Facility located atop the Palos Verdes Peninsula Mountain.

The building assets include several offices for the staff and technicians and a large Emergency Operations facility. While originally commissioned with a Surveillance Radar protected by a fiberglass “radome” the radar functions and equipment have been replaced with a newer system now in operation at the same site. The EOF radome now serves as protection of three antenna support towers; however, the dome has outlasted its effective service life and must be demolished carefully before natural causes destroy the dome and building contents.

The existing composite deck is designed and constructed to accommodate the extremely heavy loading conditions of the radar equipment. As such, the as-is structural capacity of said deck will easily accommodate the removal of the radome and construction of a new non-combustible roof structure.

The following Scope of Work (SOW) describes the requirements necessary to remove said dome and construct a new non-combustible roof structure with antenna’ and support platform necessary to provide protection and continued safe operations of the facility and the NAS for many years henceforth.
