About this file
This is a packaging requirements document (AFMC Form 158) for purchase instrument FD20302400053-00 that specifies military packaging and marking requirements. The document outlines strict requirements for wood packaging materials (WPM) in compliance with United Nations restrictions, specifically addressing concerns about invasive species like the pinewood nematode.
The requirements mandate that all wooden lumber, pallets, and containers must be constructed from debarked wood and undergo heat treatment (56°C/133°F for 30 minutes), with certification required from an agency recognized by the American Lumber Standards Committee. The packaging must conform to MIL-STD-2073-1 for military packaging and MIL-STD-129 for military marking standards. Shipping containers require specific markings including unit serial numbers, OEM information, and additional bar coding beyond MIL-STD-129 requirements. The document was issued by the 406 SCMS/GULAA organization and signed by packaging specialist Aaron D Mallory on October 13, 2023.
