About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for the Eureka Housing Bathtub Replacement contract opportunity.

The project requires replacement of a bathtub and surrounding enclosure with a Vanity Art 60 in. x 32 in. 4-Piece Direct-to-Stud Alcove Tub Surround with Right Drain Soaking Bathtub Combo in White, paired with a Delta Faryn Single-Handle 5-Spray Tub and Shower Faucet in Brushed Nickel. The contractor must demolish and remove existing damaged tubs, surround walls, trim, shower valves, and waste/overflow assemblies, with surrounding tile required to be replaced as part of the effort. Work scope includes installation of new pressure-balancing shower valves with scald protection in compliance with the California Plumbing Code, as well as new waste, overflow, and p-trap piping assemblies with secure connection to the existing drain, waste, and vent system. Due to the new tub being higher than the existing installation, plumbing modifications are necessary, including raising the shower faucet location to align properly. The contractor must perform field verification prior to installation to confirm fit, dimensions, and alignment with existing conditions. Offers shall be submitted on company letterhead by email to the primary and secondary points of contact listed on the contract opportunity; SF1442 forms are not required for submission.

Eureka Housing Bathtub Replacement Questions and Answers

1. Please provide specifications for the tub, faucet, and surrounding space.

Answer: The tub and surrounding enclosure are the Vanity Art 60 in. x 32 in. 4- Piece Direct-to-Stud Alcove Tub Surround with Right Drain Soaking Bathtub Combo in White. This unit is a 60-inch by 32-inch alcove bathtub with a right-hand drain and a four-piece direct-to-stud surround.

The faucet is the Delta Faryn Single-Handle 5-Spray Tub and Shower Faucet in Brushed Nickel, valve included. This fixture includes a single-handle control and a five-spray showerhead configuration and is intended for installation with the tub/shower assembly.

The surrounding space shall be suƯicient to accommodate the new tub and direct-to-stud surround system, with final field verification by the contractor to confirm fit, dimensions, and alignment with existing conditions prior to installation.

2. Is the surrounding tile required to be replaced?

Answer: Yes. In accordance with SOW 3.2.1.3, the contractor shall carefully demolish and remove the existing damaged tubs, surround walls, trim, shower valves, and waste/overflow assemblies. Accordingly, the surrounding wall finish is required to be removed and replaced as part of this eƯort.

3. How are oƯers submitted?

Answer: OƯers shall be submitted on company letterhead by email to the primary and secondary points of contact listed on the contract opportunity. A SF1442 form is not used for this requirement.

4. The SOW does not indicate that there is any refurbishment or replacement of plumbing. Please confirm.

Answer: Yes, the project does include plumbing replacement and related modifications. Per SOW 3.2.3.1, the contractor shall install new pressure-balancing shower valves with scald protection in compliance with the California Plumbing Code (CPC). Per SOW 3.2.3.2, the contractor shall also install new waste, overflow, and p-trap piping assemblies, with secure connection to the existing drain, waste, and vent (DWV) system.

Additionally, some adjustment to the plumbing layout will be needed to accommodate the new tub configuration. Since the new tub will be higher than the existing tub, the shower faucet location will need to be raised to align with the new installation. In that regard, the work includes both replacement of plumbing components and modification of existing plumbing as necessary for a proper fit.
