TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS

ITEM # 1 – Small Piece Folder:

Furnish and install two (2) each color touch screen-controlled return to feed Small Piece Folders. Folders shall be located near the folding table so it may be used in tandem. Folders shall include a digital counter and be return to feed.

1. Folding machine shall be color touch screen controlled with trouble-shooting circuitry. Unit shall have a digital display for face width in inches and running count in stack, stacks eject setting, and total number of pieces.

2. Folding machine shall be capable of being programmed for all different items and folds used by the textile care facility.

3. Folding machine shall be capable of being programmed by keypad for air assisted French fold items, cross folds in half folds, quarter folds and one third folds, knife or air pinch – roll cross folds.

4. Machine shall be capable of folding pajama tops, pajama bottoms, robes, terry bath towels, OR Towels, hand towels, and gowns. Each machine shall have programs developed for each category of linens being folded.

5. Machine shall be capable of automatic stacking in increments of 5's, 10's.

6. Machine shall have quality grading controls for stained and torn items.

7. Electrical Requirements - 208 volts, 3 phase, 60 hertz. Electrical cords shall have cord strain relief installed.

8. Four (4) each lockable castors are required on the small piece folder.

9. Shall be capable of being operated by a single operator.

10. LED piece counter is required.

11. Folder shall be equipped with reverse jog capabilities for removing jammed articles and have electronic jam shutoff.

12. Machines shall be equipped with an illuminated emergency stop button (when activated). Normal stop and emergency stop buttons shall be colored RED. The folding machine shall also be equipped with a normal stop button colored Red. A yellow background with legend shall also be installed with each emergency stop button.

13. Include lock-out and tag-out requirements for equipment offered. Lock-out / tag-out devices shall be supplied by the successful offeror. Devices shall be stored in a wall mounted lock-out and tag-out display/cabinet.

14 All doors shall have micro switches installed that will shut down the folder if opened during operation.

15 For allowing visual observation of the mechanical and electrical systems, install scratch and shatter-proof, clear (for the equipment life expectancy), Lucite side panels / doors on both the right, left sides and back of the folder in lieu of metal side panels.

16 Panels shall be mounted with-in the doors, flush with the sides of the system and shall be a minimum of 3/8 inches in thickness.

17 Panels / doors and top sides of the folder shall be protected with a guard around the center to prevent carts or other devices from damaging the panels. Panels / doors shall be equipped with fasteners/locks to secure them to the system.

18 An hour meter shall be installed on the folder to show that actual run time of the folder for maintenance. Hour meter shall be installed on the operators control panel.

19 Small piece folder machines shall be equipped with red, green and yellow production status indicator lights.

20 The feed stations shall have a guard installed to prevent employees from touching or rubbing against either belts or ribbons.

21 The Small Piece Folders will be separately identified. Example: Small Piece Folder Number 1.

22 All lock-out / tag-out locations shall be marked and identified on the small piece folder with instructions on lock-out procedures for the equipment offered. These instructions/procedures shall be permanently mounted on the equipment.

ITEM # 2 – Blanket Folding Machine:

A. One (1) each, color touch screen controls & information systems” that incorporate automatic/manual machine operation, self-testing, fault display and built-in diagnostics, machine that is capable of folding thermal blankets, bath blankets and bed spreads and discharge to the side conveyor.

B. Folder will be equipped with counters.

C. One (1) each, folder-cross folder and stacker with side discharge to return conveyor. Quality grading controls are required.

D. One (1) each, 360-degree sphere mirror shall allow visual observation of folder and stacker operation.

E. The blanket folder and large piece stacker shall work as one complete system.

F. The blanket folding system shall be equipped with lock-out/tag-out for servicing and maintenance of equipment. Tags and locks shall be provided by the successful offeror. All lock-out/tag-out locations shall be marked and identified on the blanket folder system with instructions on lock-out/tag-out procedures for the equipment offered. Lock-out/tag-out procedures include all electrical, air, and hydraulic etc. Relief valves shall be installed for lock-out/tag-out procedures. Procedures shall be permanently mounted on each machine

G. Furnish two (2) each thumb drives with backup programs for blanket folding system offered.

Ordering Data Production Blanket Folder Cross Folder with Stacker Conveyor:

Furnish and install 1 (ea.) – blanket folder-cross-folder. Folder shall be an integral unit equipped with a conveyor feed and capable of meeting blanket production requirements. Production requirements - 500 thermal blankets per hour, 500 bath blankets per hour and 500 bed spreads per hour. Thermal blankets, bath blankets and bed spreads will each run separately.

1. Blanket folder cross folder shall be capable of receiving thermal blankets, bath blankets and bed spreads from the blanket spreader feeder...

2. Electrical Requirements - 208 volts, 3 phase, 60 hertz. Electrical cords shall have cord strain relief installed.

3. Blanket folding machine shall be installed, leveled and have a leveling device installed on the machine.

4. The blanket folding machine, stacker shall be equipped with four (4) lockable casters.

5. The blanket folding machine and stacker shall be electrically interlocked.

6. The blanket folding machine shall be equipped with quality grading controls for rips, tears and stains. All electrical and operational switches/buttons shall be labeled. All labeling shall be on laminated plastic nameplates. Nameplates shall be laminated phenolic with a colored surface and white core.

7. The blanket folding machine and stacker shall be equipped with an illuminating emergency stop buttons (colored RED) when activated, inter-locked with the entire blanket folding system and when activated shall render the entire system folder cross-folder and stacker) inoperable. The folding machine and stacker shall also be equipped with a normal stop button colored Red. A yellow background with legend shall also be installed with each emergency stop button.

8. Blanket folder shall have reverse jog capability for removing jammed articles and have electronic jam shutoff.

9. The blanket folder cross folder control shall be a field programmable color touch screen control, providing a minimum number of programs for folding currently being used by the facility. The blanket folder cross folder control shall be capable of changing the operation of the entire automated folder cross folder system to the required functional configuration for the specific item being processed by simply choosing the appropriate program. A lock out feature shall be included to prevent unauthorized programming.

10. The folder cross-folder shall be equipped with trouble shooting circuitry for use in case of a component failure.

11. The blanket stacker conveyor shall operate as an integral part of the blanket folder cross-folder.

12. The stacker conveyor shall maintain the quality of the folded items during the stacking process.

13. The stacker conveyor shall be capable of receiving folded blankets from the blanket folder cross-folder and drop release the flatwork into precise stack by using a combination centering conveyor.

14. The blanket folder/stacker shall be color touch screen controlled.

15. The stacker conveyor shall operate with a predetermined stack count from five (5) thermal blankets up to 5 bath blankets and bed spreads and shall automatically transport in increments providing space for the next stack.

16. The blanket stacker conveyor shall have lockable casters and be of the modular concept so that it can simply be plugged into the blanket folder cross-folder for utility connections by using quick disconnects.

17. For allowing visual observation of the mechanical systems, install 3/8” thick scratch and shatter-proof, clear (for the equipment life expectancy), Lucite side panels / doors on both the right and left sides of the folder-cross folder and stacker in lieu of metal side panels.

18. Panels shall be mounted flush with the sides of the system.

19. Panels shall be protected with a guard around the center to prevent carts or other devices from damaging the panels. Panels shall be equipped with fasteners/locks to secure them to the system.

20. Safety micro switches shall be installed on all doors of the blanket folder cross folder and stacker so that when a door is opened, the machine shuts down.

21. An hour meter shall be installed on the blanket folder cross folder and stacker conveyor to show the actual run time of the folder cross folder and stacker conveyor machines for maintenance.

22. Include lock-out and tag-out requirements for equipment offered. Lock out tag out requirements shall be permanently attached to the machine. Lock-out / tag-out devices shall be supplied by the successful offeror.

23. Furnish one (1) each, 360 degree sphere mirror shall allow visual observation of blanket feeder, folder and stacker operation.

24. Blanket folding system operating instructions for the folder shall be on laminated plastic name plants. All labeling shall be on laminated plastic nameplates. Nameplates shall be laminated phenolic with a colored surface and white core with magnetic backing. Instructions shall be mounted at the rear of the folder next to the control station.

25. External Equipment/Motor Protection Filters are to be provided for all air intakes to include but not limited to dryers, washers, electronic boxes, mechanical equipment, etc., Where ever air intakes are located. These are used as a primary pre-filtration defense to help prevent damage and extensive maintenance that large volumes of lint/debris can cause. They are to fit all air intakes, motors etc. and be made of three-dimensional electrostatic media and encased in a 1/8"-3/8" rigid magnetic galvanized steel frame and contain 2 layers of polypropylene media. The media will not shed fibers, absorb moisture or promote bacterial growth; the filter should be designed for UV protected, and stands up to extreme outdoor or indoor exposure, corrosive chemicals, high velocity air flow, as well as industrial cleaning and maintenance handling.

26. Provide 4-Plex GFI receptacle for the blanket folder for mechanics use.

27. Provide an airline with quick disconnect at the blanket folder location for mechanic’s use.

ITEM #3 – 300/400 POUND GAS HEATED DRYING AND CONDITIONING TUMBLER WITH EXTERNAL LINT COLLECTION:

Furnish and install one (1) each 300/400-pound production gas heated dryer with external to the machine lint collection. The dryer shall have color touch screen controls & information systems” that incorporate automatic/manual machine operation, self-testing, fault display and built-in diagnostics and capable of being programmed for dryer loads.

The cylinder size (rated capacity) shall be 300/400 pounds, based upon a maximum 2.96 pounds per cubic foot of cylinder space. Dryer shall be capable of being sling loaded from existing monorail, if any modification is needed for the spur, it is up to the contractor. The types of textiles processed are normal hospital linen, sheets, pillowcases, bath blankets, thermal blankets, towels, wash cloths, patients clothing, uniforms and surgical linens.

The 300/400-pound gas dryer shall be a non-pass thru, 2-way tilt for loading and unloading Any existing roof penetrations will be removed or capped in compliance with State Roofing Codes.

1. Unit shall be a drying and conditioning tumbler, laundry, commercial type,

2. Commercial preservation, packaging and packing against damage required.

3. Furnish and install new 208-volt power disconnect box for the new dryer. Install a red warning indicator and a lock-on device on the handle of the branch circuit breaker for the power supply circuit for the dryer to within six (6) feet of the floor. Electrical characteristics - 208 volts, 3 phase, 60 cycles.

4. Dryer shall be microprocessor/color touch screen controls & information systems” that incorporate automatic/manual machine operation, self-testing, fault display and built-in diagnostics and capable of being programmed for dryer loads and capable of programming each category of textiles.

5. Tumbler shall be provided with removable cylinder panels and provided with protective non-stick cylinder coating providing 3000-production hour guarantee.

6. Reversing and non-reversing required.

7. Tumbler shall be gas heated.

8. A light to designate that tumbler is in operation is required.

9. Dryer shall be equipped with heavy duty drive and support wheels.

10. Dryer shall be equipped with a microprocessor time and temperature.

11. The tumbler shall be exhausted to the outside atmosphere. All ductwork shall be galvanized steel and new to the outside of the building.

12. Tumbler's air intake and exhaust air shall be derived and directed to and from the outside of the laundry building atmosphere.

13. Drying and conditioning tumblers shall have a beacon rotary LED light (colored AMBER) identifying end of drying cycle for the hearing impaired. Dryer shall also have an audible alarm to indicate when drying cycle has ended.

14. Dryer shall be equipped with excess temperature sprinkler protection.

15. A flow alarm valve shall be installed in the fire suppression system and connected to a rotary beacon LED light (colored RED) and audible alarm, to be located on the dryer, to indicate if a fire exists in the dryer. The dryers shall also be connected to the building fire alarm system to alert authorities of a fire in the dryers. The dryer(s) shall be connected to a dedicated domestic water pipe with a tamper proof valve. A backflow preventer shall be installed within six (6) inches of the domestic water main that is connected to the dedicated domestic water pipe. A maintenance valve shall be installed on the branch domestic water line before entry in to the dryers and drain into a floor drain if available for maintenance of the fire suppression system.

16. Normal stop push buttons and emergency stop buttons shall be colored red. An illuminating (when activated) emergency stop button with legends shall be installed on the drying conditioning tumblers. Yellow background with legends shall also be installed behind the emergency stop button.

17. Drying conditioning tumbler shall be equipped with lockout/tag out instructions for servicing and maintenance of equipment. Instructions shall be permanently attached to the machine. Tags and locks shall be provided by the successful offeror. Devices shall be housed in a wall mounted kit/cabinet.

18. Air intake and exhaust ductwork shall have easily accessible hinged access panels installed for easy clean-out and manual firefighting. Exhaust ductwork shall be insulated and wrapped with white PVC jacket covering and have identification and flow markings. Air intake will be insulated and wrapped in PVC plastic and have identification and flow markings.

19. All ductwork located inside the building shall be sealed identified and have directional flow markings installed.

20. Dryer shall be designed/equipped to prevent placement of objects under the tilting portion of the dryer.

21. Dryer shall be capable of sling loaded from existing monorail, any modification to spur will be the responsibility of the contractor.

22. Dryer shall be equipped with a manual override device to permit opening of the dryer door in case of a power failure.

23. Dryers shall be equipped with excess temperature cutout switches or relays and operating temperature controls.

24. Ductwork configuration shall meet the manufacturers recommended size and be cylindrical in design.

25. Tumbler shall have independent electronic ignition.

26. Provide 4-Plex receptacle for each equipment location for mechanics use.

27 An hour meter shall be installed on the dryer that will show actual hours of run time of the dryers.

28. External Equipment/Motor Protection Filters are to be provided for all air intakes to include but not limited to dryers, washers, electronic boxes, mechanical equipment, etc., Where ever air intakes are located. e. Waste Managed, External Automated Lint Collection System:

Furnish and install external automatic dry type lint collector. The lint collector shall recover a minimum of 85 percent of lint discharged. The lint collector shall be constructed of rust resistant, weatherproof, heavy gauge stainless steel or fire-retardant compound. The outside of the lint collector shall be equipped for suspension outdoors. The lint collection area shall be accessible for service and internally accessible for service and replacement of parts through an inspection door.

1. The lint screen shall be constructed of fire resistant material. This screen shall be capable of being easily removed, machine washed, and reinstalled with minimum effort.

2. The lint collector control shall be 120 vac. The control shall be manufactured with components that are user serviceable, and parts shall be easily available through local sources.

3. The lint collector shall include a fire control consisting of a 1 inch solenoid valve, a visible alarm light, audible alarm, and a fire sensor. The control shall have an automatic reset feature.

4. The collector shall have a minimum of two spray mechanisms, 1/2-inch diameter each, to be utilized for fire control. System shall be connected to a dedicated domestic water pipe and have tamper proof valves installed.

5. A flow alarm shall be installed in the fire suppression system and connected to a rotary LED light (colored red) and audible alarm, located in the textile care processing plant to indicate if a fire exists in the lint collector. The LED beacon light shall continually rotate, allowing constant observations. The collector shall be connected to the facilities existing fire suppression/alarm system located in the building to alert officials of a fire. The collector shall be connected to a dedicated domestic water supply pipe with tamper proof valves. A backflow preventer shall be installed on the dedicated domestic water supply piping for the fire suppression system 6-inches or less of the main water header. A maintenance valve located at a convenient (floor level) easily accessible location shall also be installed for each dryer for draining standing water supply within the fire suppression piping without activating the flow alarm.

6. Lint collection shall be accomplished in the production area for any lint collection system offered.

7. Dryer lint collectors external to the dryers located in the laundry (if offered) shall be insulated and wrapped with textured white aluminum with identification and flow markings.
