2. RUGs IV Rates: In the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) FY 2020 Skilled Nursing

Facility Prospective Payment System (SNFPPS) Final Rule, CMS replaced the existing case-mix classification methodology, the Resource Utilization Groups, Version IV (RUG-IV) model, with a revised case-mix methodology called the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) beginning on October 1, 2019.

Lastly, each county receives a new wage index in the annual rule, which further adjusts the final figures. The Contracting Officer will obtain the adjusted numbers in order to provide an annual rate adjustment.

4. Annual Rate Adjustments Rate adjustments are made in accordance with the proper federal regulatory standards. These are used by the Contracting Officer to provide updated Contract rates in accordance with the EPA clause incorporated into the contract via VAAR 852.216-71. The Contracting Officer will provide this by issuing a unilateral modification providing a schedule with the updated rates. Rates will be updated at most once a year.

5. Rehabilitation Therapy: Any type of rehabilitation therapy (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, etc.) requires the pre-approval of…
