Question 1: Specification 03 45 00 for Thin Brick – The specification calls out a think brick called Greystone Velour by Cloud Ceramics. Cloud Ceramics has confirmed they don’t have any PCI testing results for their thin brick and therefore their brick does not meet the PCI standard as outlined at the beginning of 2.7.A in the specification. Is Endicott and approved product for this project? Their brick does meet PCI standards.
Answer 1: Revise 034500 (2.7.A) to:
A. Thin Brick Units: PCI Standard or ASTM C-1088 type TBX, not less than 13 mm (1/2 inch), nor more than 25 mm (1 inch) thick, with an overall tolerance of plus 4 mm, minus 4 mm (+5/32 inch, - 5/32 inch) for any unit dimension 203 mm (8 inch) or less and an overall tolerance of plus 5.6 mm, minus 5.6 mm (+7/32 inch, -7/32 inch) for any unit dimension greater than 203 mm (8 inch) measured according to ASTM C67.
Question 2: What elevation do you think the site will be at for us to install the piles?
Answer 2: The top of basement mat slab elevation is 221'-4" with top of pile elevation at 217'-8".
Actual site conditions are determined by the excavation contractor and soil conditions during construction.
Question 3: What is the design load of the piles: compression, tension and lateral?
Answer 3: 20"Ø ACIP:
Compression = 250 kips Tension = 160 kips Lateral = 19 kips *additional ACIP size (larger) will be required and included in addendum documents.
Question 4: Drawing SF300 detail 3 shows a single #9 bar full length and a 20-inch diameter pile. Detail 8 on same page shows 16-inch diameter pile with a reinforcing cage and a center bar. Which one is correct?
Answer 4: 20"Ø should be used is the typical ACIP size. 16"Ø is not use or required.
*additional ACIP size (larger) will be required and included in addendum documents.
