# VENDOR QUESTIONS RESPONSES

1 Are caregivers willing to wear an earpiece throughout their shift to mitigate risk of exposing PHI via the device speakerphone?

Some caregivers are likely willing to wear earpieces, however, requiring the caregivers to wear earpieces in turn requires union approval and hence can’t be answered so quickly.

2 Will the earpiece be required to be disinfected for infection prevention?

If they are required, they will require appropriate cleaning.

3 The requirement for a device of 2 ounces or less is unduly restrictive and eliminates all competition except Vocera. Will other end-user devices be considered?

Product will be worn/carried by the caregivers and must not interfere with patient care processes.

Therefore, product must be as light and small as possible.

4 How will VISTA/CPRS expose critical lab values to the proposed middleware system?

VistA/CPRS provides HL7 messages

5 Will users have enough 'real estate' to read critical lab values and orders on the receiving voice badge?

Any required information can be found in the solicitation documents.

6 Is the middleware platform required to clear the view alerts associated with critical lab values?

Any required information can be found in the solicitation documents.

7 How will Code Blue alerts be triaged by the Contact Center Operator and/or Security for manual dial outs to ensure quick response times?

Business rules will drive quick response times

8 Will Staff Assignments reside in Vocera or Responder V Nurse Call?

The VISN 23 facilities in this solicitation do not use Vocera technology. It is anticipated that work processes may require modification dependent on the technology selected

9 Are caregivers willing to give up functionality of reporting from Responder V if Vocera is used for assignments?

The VISN 23 facilities in this solicitation do not use Vocera technology

10 Does Extension Engage provide Responder 'Staff Sync' for other patient monitoring systems that could reside in rooms so dual assignments are not needed to route alarms to the appropriate care team?

Extension Engage is currently not used with patient monitoring systems
