Questions, Answers and Comments fielded during the site visit as follows;
1. The site visit started with a visit to the 5th floor of the Sioux Falls VA facility to view the servers and cable connection where it enters the building.
2. Question/concern was stated that concerned the following statement within the statement of work in the solicitation document;
Excerpt taken from the statement of work:
1. The vendor shall provide cable television (CATV) service without requiring modification to the current CATV distribution system at the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS).
Clarification to the statement of work “without requiring modification” applies to the system located within the Sioux Falls VA. It does not mean the connection cannot be modified to allow for a successful connection. Yes, a modified/different version that what is currently installed may be changed to allow for a successful connection which to bring cable tv service into the Sioux Falls VA.
3. Question/concern was inquired about installation of a satellite dish on the roof of the Sioux Falls VA. The nearest installation location is approximately 400-500 feet away from the actual connection point on the 5th floor. It was expressed the VA is willing to accept a satellite dish installation (with prior approval).
4. Question/concern was inquired about underground fiberoptic lines leading into the VA. Who owns them and if a new contractor assumed responsibility for the cable tv services, would the fiber remain in place? The incumbent contractor for this service, Mid-Continent Communications (Midco) owns the fiber and the fiber would remain in place for future use with other contractor(s). Midco would remove their node and leave the fiber in place.
5. Televisions in place are Analog and Digital ready and currently have an analog signal going to them.
6. Cable TV coming into the building on the 5th floor will interface with the GetWell network system currently installed in the Sioux Falls VA. The GetWell network is a Patient Engagement solution, for more information click on the link below.
https://www.getwellnetwork.com/
7. TV brands currently installed: RCA, Sharp and Visio. All have flat screens and are digital ready.
8. Channels listed as HD in the statement of work (as seen in the solicitation) that show “HD” are broadcast in HD by the companies that broadcast each channel.
9. The site visit tour visited a patient room to view a television and remote control. Two cables were seen coming out of the wall. One cable for the GetWell system and the other for the cable tv service (analog).
10. The site visit tour then visited a Network Closet that functions as hub. It was determined that no connections are necessary for install of a cable system.
