1. What is the number of 4 gallon Red Step on RMW containers being utilized?

Answer: EMS (Des Moines VA) owns all step on containers currently in use at our facility. Onsite Staff, of the awarded contract, would remove the liner, transport it to the BIO room on the C-DOCK, and replace new liner in the containers.

3. Can a portable storage unit or enclosed container be placed on the back dock for storage of clean containers keeping them out of the elements?

Answer: Yes, however the storage unit must be within reason as to not impede walk/working space in this area.

4. What type of 32 gallon RMW container would the VA approve of if not to use the current gray square container with flip over lids?

Answer: EMS goal is to provide a container that is hands free and operated by foot control.

a.The container must be enclosed with a lid when not in use
b.The container must have a wide enough opening to allow safe discard of BIO waste to the user
c.The container must be of a hard plastic that does not allow someone to be poked and prevent leaks
d.The container must be able to be transported to the C-DOCK/BIO Room safely and covered
e.Space is limited and the size of containers may have to be adjusted upon request

5. Are the counts or quantities listed on Attachment “A” accurate as to the number and sizes of sharps containers?

Answer: The current sheet is approximately 1 year in age and while some of the locations may have changed, the count is fairly accurate. The proposed contract type should allow for variances of containers throughout the facility as this is an ever changing number. The sizes of containers also vary throughout the facility and as was explained when the offerors representative conducted a site visit, some areas require smaller containers and some areas go with the standard 4 gallon sharp containers. This also will vary greatly throughout the contract as our customers’ needs will change and EMS fulfills customer requests.

6. What are the quantity and sizes of chemo, path, and pharm containers currently located throughout the facilities?

Answer: The current vendor provides the following containers which satisfies our needs, numbers vary on a daily basis:

a.1 qt. red sharps
b.2 gallon sharps
c.P-LIST containers
d.2 gallon hazardous waste
e.8 gallon hazardous waste containers
f.4 gallon sharps
g.8 gallon pharmaceutical (blue)
h.8 gallon bio
i.9 gallon bio (disposable)
j.19 gallon bio (disposable)
k.9 gallon yellow (disposable)
l.19 gallon yellow (disposable)

1. Will Des Moines and servicing CBOC VA personnel perform internal services (bag and store items) or will contracted personnel be required to perform the internal services?
