Koby Thiel

Contracting Specialist

Q: I do see a timeframe of contract performance of 9-1-2025 – 12-31-2025; will the actual days of inspection be scheduled between you and the contractor so as to be expected?

A: The inspection date(s) will be scheduled between the facility and contractor after the award is made.

Q: Is there a previous contract number?

A: There is not a true 1:1 requirement, no. This is a portion of a previous contract.

Q: Per the correspondence reviewed below, we will need the following information:

• facility layout

• A: Facility maps can be found at: https://www.va.gov/long-beach-health-care/locations/tibor-rubin-va-medical-center/campus-map/

• extinguisher types/sizes

• A: Our facility varies with different types of fire extinguishers. The vast majority of our fire extinguishers consist of a dry chemical (ABC) and weigh 10 lbs.

• service history (including dates of last hydrostatic testing)

• A: The previous service for fire extinguishers expired back in July 2024; however, for the hydrostatic testing, it is currently being maintained by Engineering.

• Is this a pre-vailing wage site?

• A: There is a local wage determination, said wage determination is detailed within the solicitation document on page 9.

Q: Can you provide more details about the types and sizes of extinguishers that need to be serviced for this contract?

A: Overall, the VA Long Beach fire extinguishers that are being used are dry chemical (ABC), weighing 5 to 10 lbs., with a quantity of about 800.

Q; Please confirm whether this is a multi-year contract. I saw references to IDIQ and then saw performance are 9/1/25 - 12/31/25.

A: This is a 4 month total IDIQ. Orders may be placed between 9/1/2025 – 12/31/2025.

Q: How much lead time would be provided to arrange for the scheduling of units at the primary location as well as for alternate locations?

A: The service will only be at the primary location at the lead time of within a week or two to fully capture all the fire extinguishers in the VA Long Beach facility.

Q: How long is the contractor training for accessing VA facilities?

A: The contractor will be escorted throughout the area, excluding the secured room, such as the

IT server room and the other regions that require PIV access.
