The purpose of this amendment is to respond to the questions asked related to this solicitation on pages 2-4 of this amendment.

Q: 1. With regards on the subject solicitation, may I ask the expected weight for laundry services per CLIN weekly?
A: According to our invoices there are only numbers in quantities weekly, so when current contractor drops off linen it is a number in a bundle per item. They pick up our soiled linen in a laundry bin provided by current contractor. No weights or scales required.
Q: The main piece of pertinent information that is not provided is the anticipated volume of work to be performed. The solicitation has a piece count of 52 for each of the items listed. Does that mean 52 of each of those items will need to be cleaned weekly or annually?
What is the historical volume of work to be performed?
A: It is 52 weeks for the year, work performed twice weekly, meaning on Tuesday they come and count Fisher House on hand inventory, then again on Friday they pick up soiled linen and deliver items (in bundles) needed for in house inventory.
Q: You ask for comforters and shower curtains to be returned on hangers. This will necessitate per piece pricing. Although the solicitation provides fiber content and size of the comforters, there is no description of comforter weight which is the single most important factor to determine price. I request to see a sample of one so that I know what
I'm bidding on.
A: On the SOW it is stated, but not what we require. Comforters and shower curtains are washed, dried and replaced by Fisher House staff. Fisher House provides these items through
GSA using GPF, when old and not usable.
Q: The solicitation speaks of manifests being required for each cart of laundry delivered with piece counts. Linens such as sheets and towels are most cost efficient when processed by the pound. Providing a piece count of each item type will make the cost higher. What exactly does the manifest need to accomplish for Fisher House? Furthermore, what is the packaging of finished product need to be? Most likely, Fisher house would want like items bundled together, but this is not indicated in the solicitation.
A: The manifest attached to the laundry bin at delivery states quantities in bundles (example; 3 blankets in 1 bundle, 6 bundles).
Q: It is clear that the contractor is financially responsible for any parking infraction, yet there is no guarantee that legal access to the Fisher House will be provided. What exactly is to be expected when servicing the Fisher House?
A: You are correct, we don’t see a guarantee of that in the SOW but current contractor have drive in/drive out access and space for parking (Parking lot A), unloading and loading the laundry bins. No restrictions.
Q: Description of items to be provided and/or laundry serviced, should it simply state a
"catch all phrase" in the description, or should I break the CLINS down into separate categories, like shirts, towels, bed sheets etc.?(See attached CLIN draft).
A: Break them down, Micro Bath towels, Micro hand towels, Micro face towels, Micro bath mat, Twin/Full/Queen flat & fitted sheets, Beige fleece blankets, and Micro pillow cases.
Q: Period of Performance: Will this be a one-year contract or a base +4? In my attached draft I used a 5-year model for this requirement. If not, please provide clarification to ensure this is put together correctly.
A: Yes, that is correct Base+4.
Q: What is the projected volume of linens and/or laundry to be serviced weekly/monthly?
My draft states a weekly pick-up?
A: Yes, it is weekly pickup and drop off, numbers are different every week because it depends of usage (amount of check-ins and check-outs).
Q: Are there any special care items?
A: There are NO special care items.
Q: What are projected service hours?
A: Monday through Friday 9am to 4pm.
Q: Should items be bundled on delivery in a particular fashion, or it does it not matter?
A: They come in bundles already, and this works.
Q: Does pick-up and delivery have to be the same?
A: Yes, they must pick up when they are delivering, for now it is on Fridays.
Q: How much, what type of laundry will need to be picked up and how often?
A: How much depends on the turn over during the week, pick up will be weekly. The type is soiled linen and towels.
Q: What is the turnaround time you will want the cleaned laundry back?
A: Turnaround is Weekly.
Q: Will I need to provide bags to transport dirty/clean laundry?
A: No bags needed, company will leave laundry bin when they drop off clean linen and remove laundry bin (we have in storage with soiled linen.
NOTE: Any questions not answered is due to it not having any relevancy to the current solicitation and or is public information in which a contractor may request a FOIA.
