About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a Blood Bank Automation CPT Solution. The RFQ is solicited by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 22.

The key details include:

  • Clarification on the volumes for patient forward/reverse typing, donor retype, Rh phenotype, and non-Rh antigen typing for various locations.
  • Confirmation of the antibody screen type (2-cell or 3-cell) and automated Rh phenotyping assays used at each location.
  • Details on the Direct Antiglobulin Test (DAT) methodology (Polyspecific or IgG) used at each location.
  • Updates to the Statement of Work, including revised sections on sensitivity validation, specificity studies, and verifying expected ABO and negative screen reactions.

QUESTIONS:

Please clarify if “ABO/Rh confirmation” testing is for patients forward and reverse typing or for donor retype forward typing only? If it includes both, please indicate separately the volumes for each.

Please clarify which sites are using a 2 cell Antibody screen or 3 cell Antibody screen.

How many antigen typing’s are for Rh typing? Other antigens?

How many Crossmatches are IgG and how many immediate spin (IS)?

Is the Direct Antiglobulin Test performed using Polyspecific (Anti-IgG,-C3) or Anti-IgG? How many of each?

UPDATE TO THE STATEMENT OF WORK

SOW is updated as follows:

Sections 7.3, 7.4 and 7.5 now read:

7.3 Sensitivity may be validated.

7.4 Specificity Studies. A review of product literature and assay inserts to determine any adverse effects for increased bilirubin, hemolysis, lipemia, or other interfering substances.

7.5. A minimum of 20 reference individuals shall be used to verify reactivity of expected ABO and negative screen reactions. Any apparent outliers should be discarded, and new specimens obtained to provide a statistically valid verification.

Sections 7.6 and 7.7 are not relevant and no longer part of the SOW.
