1. What is current contract amount?
Government Response: $981,850
2. Please provide a detailed breakdown on the number of containers needed to service this contract. The RFP does not specifically provide information on the size of containers per waste stream needed. This also includes the number of floor container vs wall mounted containers.
Government Response: Estimating 200 containers daily - 50% gray, 44 gal.; 25% white, 44 gal.; 25% red, 32 gal. - the contractor shall supply enough containers to hold 72 hours of waste
3. What type of floor dollies are required? Also, how many are needed to service this contract?
Government Response: There are no floor dollies required; the vendor is responsible for providing their own equipment (i.e. floor jacks, dollies) to load in their truck(s) as needed
4. How many reusable containers are required vs disposable containers for the is contract?
Government Response: Estimate 50 of the white, 50 red and 100 gray reusable containers and approximately 10 to 20 of the disposable containers
5. Are reusables installed at the offsite locations?
Government Response: No
6. Are they sharps only or commingled?
Government Response: Commingled
7. How many Commingled waste locations are there?
Government Response: There is only one waste location, Bldg. 18
8. Considering the number of potential reusable containers to be used on this contract, will the VA provide a sufficient storage area for the contractor to store filled and empty containers?
Government Response: Yes
9. How does the VA define collection point as it relates to red bag waste? Does collection point mean temporary storage location(s) or from the individual exam/patient rooms?
Government Response: The Government waste bldg. is the temporary storage location and yes the space is available; vendor will not be required to enter the facility
10. How many Medical Waste Technicians are currently servicing this contract?
Government Response: 2
11. In terms of lab waste, can you please provide the types of hazardous lab waste that will require lab packing?
Government Response: All lab waste is non-hazardous

Government Response: The current schedule for the Oceanside clinic is weekly on Thursday, all other clinics are as needed
17. On page 17 section 20 Training- it references reusable pharmaceutical containers. Is this contract specifying a reusable program, with floor/wall mounted containers? It is also referenced in the tracking section: the number of times a "reusable" container has been used. (This is usually not done on regular RMW shipping containers)
Government Response: That verbiage is changed to “disposable”; all pharmaceutical containers are disposable. The only reusable containers are the ones used for transporting from the waste building to the treatment facility. There is no reusable program in this requirement
18. Page 38, section f, a: Class C license with Hazardous endorsement required- at this time a hazardous endorsement is not required to transport RMW. Why is this a requirement?
Government Response: The requirement for Class C license with Hazardous Endorsement from DOT is removed. All other requirements for the Special Standards of Responsibility must be submitted with the proposal; contractor shall provide evidence that they are legally qualified to perform the requirements of the statement of work
19. Are there specific colors required for each waste stream, or is it only required that they all be different?
Government Response: Yes, all of the waste streams being generated are color coded; laboratory and regulated medical waste is gray; animal & pathology waste is red; pharmaceutical and sharps is white
20. To clarify, all sharps containers are disposable and will be provided by VASDHS and will be collected and transported to collection points by VASDHS staff, correct?
