About this file

This is a Brand Name or Equal Worksheet (Salient Characteristics) for patient lift systems required by the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS) for installation in CT rooms 1D252 and 1D244. The document outlines essential specifications and performance requirements that any proposed lift system must meet to be considered equivalent to the named brand (Guldmann Inc., model MD01072026MDR).

The patient lift system must provide automatic, hands-free dynamic body weight support with real-time fall protection, allowing clinical staff to set a specified "offload" weight via hand control that adjusts automatically as the patient moves. Required technical specifications include a minimum lifting speed of 2.2 inches per second at maximum load capacity, wireless Wi-Fi connectivity for remote monitoring of usage and maintenance analytics, wired hand control with LCD screen display, internal Class III scale capability, continuous AC charging anywhere on track rails, and seamless transition to secondary rail systems via automatic non-motorized gate mechanisms. The supplier must demonstrate manufacturing patient lifts for over 40 years with no FDA recalls, provide UL certification for the entire lift unit beyond ISO 10535 compliance, offer a minimum three-year warranty on lift units and five-year warranty on batteries (extendable to 10 years), and provide complimentary end-user training for all shifts plus one week annually of Clinical Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) training for five years. The scope includes design, installation, and clinical training for a 4x4 meter B rail room covering system accommodating a 770-pound hoist capacity, with Guldmann GH3+ motors to be provided from VASNHS stored stock.

Brand Name or Equal Worksheet (“Salient Characteristics”) v 2.0

Brand Name Item:

1) Essential/significant physical, functional, or performance characteristics.

The patient lift system being considered for award must meet the following specifications:

Note: “hoist” and “lift” are used here interchangeably

1. Supplier must be able to provide a patient lift with automatic, hands free, dynamic body weight support and fall protection in real time during any selected patient care activity, rehab/therapy session or mobility sessions; clinical staff must be able to enter a specified “offload” weight, appropriate for the patient and particular task, directly into the hand control, after which the lift must continually offload the specified weight as patient moves and their center of gravity changes, without the need for staff to continue operating the hand control. Offload weight must be adjustable during a single session so that a patient can progress during that session or if a patient requires more or total assistance. At all other times the lift must be able to be used as a normal ceiling lift system for standard transfers and repositioning, as well as weighing patients without the need for an external scale system.

1. Lifting speed must be minimum 2.2 inches per second at maximum load capacity, with a soft/slow start and stop.

1. Must have a wireless interface that connects to the existing Wi-Fi network infrastructure.

Usage analytics and maintenance analytics software must have capability to be monitored remotely via web access, without the need for a physical connection cable with usage data displayed on LCD screen integrated into hand control.

1. The track rails must be capable of accommodating stationary lock for lift unit and/or stationary lock for Traverse Rail with user capability via hand control to separately position and lock the lift motor and/or the traverse rail in designated location(s) when indicated for patient care activity.

1. The hand control must be wired, with LCD screen capable of displaying patient weight (if scale option is purchased) and lift usage information.

1. Scale must be internal; with patient weight displayed on a screen located on the hand control.

1. Class III internal scale must be available as an option; with patient weight displayed on a screen located on the hand control.

1. The lift must not have an external scale attachment.

1. The track rail system must allow for seamless transition to a second rail system using a non-motorized gate system. The gate system must be automatic, non-electric, and require no external activation via pull cord or switch. The gate system must open upon alignment of rails and remain locked when rails are out of alignment.

1. Supplier must be able to provide lift systems from a manufacturer that has had no FDA recalls in company history, and that has been manufacturing patient lifts for over 40 years.

1. The lift must charge anywhere on the track via continuous AC charging.

1. The lift must have an expected lifespan of fifteen (15) years, without lift usage limits, on the condition of correct use and maintenance as stated in the manufacturer’s official user manual.

1. In addition to compliance with ISO 10535 (Hoists for the transfer of disabled persons – Requirements and test methods), the entire lift unit (not only the transformer) must be UL (Underwriters Laboratory) certified to meet requirements for user safety. Copy of certificate must be provided and copies of independent (third party) test reports should be made available upon request.

1. Must have a minimum three (3) year warranty on lift units, including lifting straps and washable slings; minimum five (5) year warranty on batteries. Warranty shall include both ISO 10535 Inspections & Preventative Maintenance (PMs) as well as parts, labor and shipping associated with PMs or warranty repair in between annual scheduled service.

1. Supplier must be able to provide an optional extended warranty package for up to 7 additional years, for a total warranty of 10 years, which must include both ISO 10535 Inspections & Preventative Maintenance (PMs) as well as parts and labor in between annual scheduled service.

1. In addition to end-user training, which must be offered for all staff on all shifts at no cost to the VA, supplier must offer, also at no charge to the VA facility, an additional one (1) week per year for five (5) years of Clinical SPHM Training.

2) Complete generic identification – x2 4x4 meter B rail room covering system installed for 770# hoist including design, installation, and clinical training. [Guldmann GH3+ motors to be provided by VASNHS from stored stock).

3) Applicable model/make/catalog number – Catalog number NA: quote for MD01072026MDR

4) Manufacturer name – Guldmnann Inc.

Per VAAR 811.104 and 811.105, I certify the following regarding the above information:
