About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for a Department of Veterans Affairs solicitation regarding medical waste disposal services. The Q&A clarifies that the contract requires dockside-only service with no labor needed for sharps container exchange. The facility purchases its own containers, including 18, 8, and 3-gallon red sharps containers, 5 and 1-quart red sharps containers, 18 and 3-gallon white pharmaceutical containers, and yellow chemotherapy containers.

Key details include that containers must be lockable and tamper-proof, though no specific certifications are required. Pricing should be provided as an annual all-inclusive rate. While hazardous waste is mentioned in the SOW, it is handled by the GEMS manager separately from this contract. The facility requires pharmaceutical waste pickup and disposal but confirms there are no reusable sharps containers on site. Weight reports for waste streams were requested but not available.
