BACKGROUND: Boise VAMC Transfusion Services requires red blood cell reagents that meet strict quality control and compliance standards for patient testing. These reagents are essential for safely matching donated blood products to recipients who need them for life-saving treatments—a process carried out exclusively in the Transfusion Services Department. Transfusion Medicine supports all major hospital departments, including Emergency, Surgery, Oncology, and Medical Units. Without a dedicated Transfusion Medicine Department, these units cannot operate effectively. The vendor is responsible for supplying quality control check cells as well as antibody identification panel cells to fulfill these requirements and support effective patient care.
