DESCRIPTION

The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to solicit and negotiate a Sole Source, Firm-Fixed-Price Order with the SDVOSB Trillamed, LLC. The procurement is for Pneumatic Kairison Maintenance and Repair. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811210. The pneumatic kairison, manufactured by Aesculap, is a bone punch that uses pressurized air to effect mechanical motion. Used in spinal neurosurgical procedures, it is used in situations where extra reach is needed, and it reduces fatigue to the surgeon when removing larger portions of bone and material. Aesculap’s Kairison is the only pneumatic device available. Trillamed is the only company authorized by Aesculap to perform the product repair and maintenance in the United States. Because of the OEM requirement that the maintenance and repair be accomplished by Trillamed, this procurement is limited to one source in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) Soliciting from a Single Source, as there is only one source available to satisfy the Agency’s requirement. The anticipated award date: June 23, 2023.

This requirement is for:

Department of Veterans Affairs Portland VA Medical Center 3710 SW US Veterans Hospital Road Portland, OR 97239-2964

This notice satisfies the requirement at FAR 5.201(b)(1), to publicize the proposed contract action. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation will be made available. Any responses received will only be considered for the purpose of determining the marketplace for future procurements. The Government will not pay for information submitted. This will be the only notice of the Government’s intent to solicit, negotiate, and award to one source to satisfy this requirement.
