About this file
The document is a Salient Characteristics specification for a 500kW mobile diesel generator for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at the Grand Junction, CO facility. The generator is a Cummins model with specific technical requirements, including a Tier IV Final certified X15-G17 diesel engine with advanced emissions control, electronic engine controls, and high-pressure common rail fuel system. Key specifications include a 15-liter 6-cylinder engine, 24-volt starting system, brushless alternator with permanent magnet excitation, and a sound-attenuated white powder-coated enclosure with a 23-hour fuel tank and leak detection sensor.
The generator features multiple voltage configurations (480/277V, 240/139V, 208/120V), comprehensive electrical and mechanical specifications, and is designed for compatibility with existing facility infrastructure. The pre-solicitation opportunity (Solicitation Number: 36C25925Q0614) is issued by the VA Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 19, seeking a portable trailer-mounted generator that meets these precise technical requirements. The specification emphasizes standardization of equipment, engineering staff familiarity, and compatibility with current electrical systems.

Text version
1. Background: Due to requirements related to electrical power, scheduled maintenance and outages, the facility is requesting the purchase of an additional mobile (portable) power generator system. The facility is currently using the same make/model generator on site. However, due to the reasons outlined in the attached brand name justification form an additional unit is needed at this time. To standardize equipment currently in use throughout the facility. 2) For consistency for engineering staff, which has been trained and is proficient in the use and operation of the existing generator. 3) This specific generator is compatible with our current electrical infrastructure and would not require modifications for critical functions.
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS- Cummins Generator
