Questions—36C25921R0097 Fourth Floor Kitchen and Break Room Renovation
Q1. Does the provided superintendent have to be solely designated to this project or can he/she be a superintendent for another project as well simultaneously?
A. The superintendent must be able to perform all duties outlined in the Specifications and must be on site at all times during construction. If the superintendent will be performing multiple jobs on site, pricing should be pro-rated.
Q2. SOW indicates to abandon existing headwalls and demolish piping back to trunk line. There are no mechanical drawings as part of the drawings package. Please provide drawings showing main trunk line locations, domestic water, HVAC, etc.
A. The headwalls themselves will need to be demo’d as well. The headwalls contain only medgas (oxygen, med air, and vacuum) and electricity. We do not have any drawings of medgas and electrical utilities for this area.
Q3. SOW indicates to “conform to ICRA requirements: Class II/III” Please define the requirements for class II/III. Please provide pre -construction risk assessment.
A. A draft version of the ICRA for this project is attached. The draft should be used for reference for pre-construction activities. An official ICRA Permit will be issued post award.
Q4. Please specify what type of ICRA barriers are required during construction?
A. See attached draft ICRA.
Q5. Will a negative air “Anti Room” be required?
A. See attached draft ICRA.
Q6. SOW indicates live water pipes have asbestos containing materials. Please clarify type and locations.
A. The asbestos is contained in piping insulation in room 469. The VA is aware of approximately 10 linear feet of asbestos containing materials. A floor plan should be attached in the solicitation.
Q7. Has any other of the materials in the workspace been tested for asbestos containing materials?
A. No other ACM’s have been identified.
Q8. Please provide ACM report.
A. We do not have a report on that section of ACM.
Q9.SOW indicates to cross reference the VA Design Guide not outlined in this scope. Is this a design build project?
A. No this is not a Design Build Project; A schematic was put together to outline basic expectations for construction. The Design Guide was used as a base to identify needs for Nourishment Stations and the SOW should be used first as a reference to work requirements followed by the Design Guide. Any questions, comments, concerns, or discrepancies regarding the SOW and Design Guide should be asked in an RFI format. There are aspects of this project that will require field verification and shop drawings in which the Contractor will provide to the VA for approval.
Q10. Please provide the VA Design Guide.
A. The Design Guide Medical/Surgical Inpatient Units & Intensive Care Nursing Units Referencing Section 4 Nourishment Station Pages 101-105 will be attached as supplemental documentation to this RFI. Or may be found in the VA Technical Information Library.
Q11. SOW indicates to upgrade finishes. Calls out LVT for the new type of flooring. Please provide the approved VA finish schedule, or allowance for LVT.
A. Armstrong NA350 Rock Dust is the preferred material and color.
Q12. Nourishment Room Data Sheet indicates a ceiling height of 9”-0”. Current ceiling is not at 9’-0”. Is the ceiling to remain at same elevation in all work areas?
