Vendor Questions and Answers

1. Is it possible to take a picture of the existing chiller motor nameplate? Are there any specific motor options required? i.e. motor heater, bearing & temp RTD’s, etc.?

Answer: Has to be a YORK approved OEM motor for that chiller model and serial number. All pictures are up to contractor. But yes, they may take pictures.

1. Is it possible to take photos of the chiller approximately 15-20 feet back from the chiller in order to view potential rigging equipment set-up?

Answer: Yes

1. Is it possible to take photos of the pit as well?

Answer: Yes

1. Understand a crane is needed to remove the old motor from BF118 mechanical room pit and insert a new one, is this the only option? Is there a freight elevator that could be used instead?

Answer: No elevators in this space. No existing pipes/piping will be used to lift this motor. Weighs approximately 3000lbs. Contractor will supply any/all lifting devises, A Frames, cherry pickers, cranes, chain hoist etc. Contractor will be responsible for all permits to block off any portion of the street.

1. Is a baseline vibration analysis needed at start-up?

Answer: It is recommended; it could come in as a handy tool in the future if VA thinks there is a problem. It would give a base line.

1. Is there a requirement to remove the CHW piping? Is it in the way of pulling the motor?

Answer: This will be up to each vendor on what needs to be removed for better and safer access.

1. The motor is open drive and does not require insulation. If the CHW insulation is not damaged, do we need to replace it?

Answer: If not damaged, then no.

1. Can VA Hospital pull gauge to gain more room?

Answer: Yes. Contractor must provide written notice to the local VA POC and Contracting Officer to enable Engineering time to schedule the shutdown of the chiller, pull and cap off port at hospital’s discretion.

1. Who is responsible for hot work permits?

Answer: VA will get hot work permits through the hospital.
