Amendment 1 - Questions and Answers Project Replace Executive Doors 36C25818B0001 10/24/18

1. RFP, Page 8 of 45, A.7 – Hours of Coverage states that the work is to be performed during NON-BUSINESS HOURS. The work takes place adjacent to the Sleep Lab that is in use during the evening hours. Should the work for this project actually be performed strictly on the weekends or during normal business hours when the Sleep Lab is not in operation?

ANSWER: All work needs to be in Non-Business hours after the Management has left for the day. The sleep Lab is open 24/7 so it does not matter to them. Courtesy notification will be conducted before work happens.

2. Will the VA provide the specifications and whether a sole source manufacturer is required to be used for the automatic door operators??

ANSWER: Yes, we will have specifications for the automatic door opener and this will not be sole source.

3. Will the VA clarify if a new Fire Alarm pull stations are only required at the double doors in C11-2 and at C-11-12? Will the VA clarify where the pull stations are to be installed? Will the VA provide the manufacturer of the current Fire Alarm system and what company currently maintains this system?

ANSWER: As of right now, the fire pull stations are for the areas in C11-2 and Fire Alarms will C11-12. Other pull stations are not anticipated. Discuss of location for the pull stations will be discussed with awardee after contract award. Cal Fire maintains the system.

4. Does the VA have attic stock available to insure a match of impacted VCT tiles, in the case that these matching tiles are no longer available?

ANSWER: Yes.

5. 5. Upon attending the Site Visit and also after gathering information for the VALBHCS hospital standards, we have identified several discrepancies in the supplied Statement of Work, and what may actually be required for this project.

a)The SOW for Door #1 (Item 2) states only to “Replace Door”. The existing door is HM / Wood type. The local VA is requesting 7/8” laminated tempered glass doors (opposite swing). These doors were to receive etched glass VA seals on each leaf. Will the VA be revising this door Statement of Work item 2 for Door #1, or should we bid just what is stated? SOW is revised.
b)The SOW for Door #1 (Item 8) states to add a fire alarm pull station to west wall. The VALBHCS standard is to provide a pull station with a secondary cover to prevent accidental alarms. Will the VA be modifying this item for Door #1? SOW is revised.

c) The SOW for Door #1 (Item 9) states to “move exit sign if applicable”. VALBHCS was requesting the new standard see-through exist sign with red lettering connected to emergency power and the repair of the ceiling. Will the VA be modifying this item for Door #1? SOW is revised.

d) The SOW for Door #3 (Item 5) states to add a fire alarm pull station to west wall. The VALBHCS standard is to provide a pull station with a secondary cover to prevent accidental alarms. Will the VA be modifying this item for Door #3? SOW is revised.

e) The SOW for Door #3 (Item 6) states to “move exit sign if applicable”. VALBHCS was requesting the new standard see-through exist sign with red lettering connected to emergency power and the repair of the ceiling. Will the VA be modifying this item for Door #3? SOW is revised.
