About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for a Department of Veterans Affairs solicitation regarding Underground Storage Tank (UST) and Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) inspection, testing, and repair services. The document provides technical details about the existing tank infrastructure at the facility.
The facility has 12 underground storage tanks with varying piping configurations - USTs #6-14 use suction piping while USTs #15-17 use pressurized piping. Each tank has an overfill prevention valve set at 95% capacity and a spill bucket. There are 12 containment sumps total, with under-dispenser containments located at the gas station. The facility does not utilize interstitial monitoring but conducts monthly leak tests via an automatic tank gauging (ATG) system. No sumps currently have water issues, though water infiltration varies with weather conditions. Monthly inspections following SPCC EPA protocols are required for ASTs. A potential future tank (#18) is mentioned but specifications are not yet determined. Photos of the systems were not provided due to the 400lb weight of manhole covers.
