Questions for AAON Chiller Repair 36C25722Q0430

1. Performance Period: Currently, pumps are taking 12-16 weeks to be delivered after approval. VFDs are taking 20-32 weeks to be delivered depending on the chassis. The 60-day performance period is not enough to get equipment and install. Please allow for the NTP to be delayed until equipment is received.

NTP will be issued until equipment is received.

2. B.2 Price/Cost Schedule: The bid schedule has two CLINS. Neither CLIN specifically mirrors what is written in the Statement of Work. Please clarify what contractors are supposed to bid in each CLIN.

The CLINs will be updated from two (2) CLINS to One (1) CLIN.

CLIN 0001: Specifically states Repair Aaon Chiller Model / Serial No. LL-075-8-0- DA0A-000 /201112-BABF00406 in accordance with the Statement of Work.

CLIN 0002: states Other minor repairs and cost. Referring to section 3 of the of the statement of work. (If any further issues are found, an additional Clins in the contract will included for the repairs upon contracting officers’ approval.)

I can see how this can be confusing and CLIN 0002 will be removed.

3. Wage Rate Determination: The attached wage scale is for service contracts. This contract is listed as special trade construction in the bid documents. Please provide the correct wage scale for construction.

This a service contract. The correct Wage Determination was provided. Section C.6 will be amended to reflect services.

4. Equipment Controls: Do the controls for the equipment tie into a Building Automation System? If so, who is the contractor that provides controls for the facility?

Automated Logic ALC (Phone 210-658-0900)

5. Temporary Services: Will there be any requirement for temporary services during construction (e.g.- plumbing, HVAC, electrical)?

(No) Chiller currently has power and rental chiller is in place.

6. Electrical: What electrical work is required on the project?

Replace VFD relays motors (208v 3ph).

7. B.3 Statement of Work, 2. General: This states that contractors are to make ‘repairs to the AAON Chiller to include installing the Chiller unit’. Is that just referencing the repairs listed in the Scope of Work below?

Yes, do repairs and start up chiller to normal operations.

8. Are we to dispose/abate of any asbestos, lead, mold or other hazardous material as part of this project? If so, provide appropriate hazardous material site survey report.

No hazardous materials on chiller building.

9. What will the ICRA level be for this project?

No work outside.

10. Are there any proprietary and/or required subcontractors/vendors required for the General Contractor to use as part of this project?

Must be able to communicate back to Aaon chiller company. Automated Logic is the Aaon chiller Rep.

11. Is there any work associated with this project that is required to be performed after-hours?

No work required after hours. Work to be done Monday thru Friday 0800 – 1630.

12. Please confirm that payment & performance bonds are not required.

Payment & performance bonds are not required.

13. The VFD’s that are in the SOW to be replaced are commonly referred to as micro- VFD's because of their smaller footprint. These items are not currently These items are not currently available due to lack of industry production and the more common shipping problems we all are facing. I have researched (3) different brands and several different models, the only available VFD's I have found are the full size. These range in sizes of 38" to 43" tall where as the micro drives are approximately 9-11 inches tall. So obviously, 3 "full size" drives will not fit in the existing cabinet. One option to consider is to purchase the Armstrong CHW pumps with an integral VFD, this would allow the 2 existing J1000 VFD's to be removed from the cabinet and leave enough room to possibly install a full size VFD for the condenser. Would this be an acceptable alternate to the existing SOW? If not, please address how to proceed.

This is a package system there is no room to change sizes on VFD it’s a close compartment which houses all incoming electrical plus all electrical breakers, VFD , contactors etc.
