1. The first CLIN sates: Weight Testing & Prism Check. Work will be done at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care Facility in Temple, Waco, Killeen, and Austin. What is a prism check? Is this a full preventative maintenance check or just a load test?
Weight testing and end stop test. Prism is a type of Lift. Along with Guldmann, and Arjo, and Handicare.
2. The second CLIN states: Semi-Annual Patient Lift End Stop & Prism Inspection. Work will be done at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care Facility in Temple, Waco, Killeen, and Austin. Is this is a full preventative maintenance check or are we just checking the end stops on the rails? What is a prism check?
The end stop is the Pin in the rail to prevent failure. Once again, the Prism is a type of lift.
3. The third CLIN states: Preventative Maintenance & Repairs on Patient Lifts. Work will be done at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care Facility in Temple, Waco, Killeen, and Austin. Is this a full preventative maintenance check with load testing? How can we determine repairs prior to accessing the systems?
These PM schedules are semi-annually, and then annually. Repairs are assessed by Electronics for repairs needed as they are needed, Nurses notice the failure, they call Electronics, Electronics assess the actual failure and correct any deficiencies, and if uncorrectable by Electronics, calls for repair by Maintenance Contractors.
4. The fourth CLIN states: Not to Exceed (NTE) Spot Repairs CLIN. Work will be done at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care Facility in Temple, Waco, Killeen, and Austin. Is this for emergency call back repairs? What is the average number of call back repairs per facility currently?
The NTE CLIN will be set at $5000.00 for repairs that are outside of the scope of normal routine maintenance repairs. The CLIN can be used for emergency call back repairs. Currently we do not have the average number of call back repairs per facility.
5. Can you confirm an exact count of the lifts?
All lifts are included in the Statement of Work (SOW).
6. Can you explain the “Not to Exceed (NTE) Spot repairs CLIN” in more detail and what you are requesting?
The NTE CLIN will be set at $5000.00 per year for repairs that are outside of the scope of normal routine maintenance repairs.
7. Are the Semi Annual Patient Lift End Stop and Prism Inspection only for the Prism motors or is it for all systems?
The Prism inspection is just another Lift inspection, and we have various types and brands of lifts, all must be inspected. The End stop inspection is for all rail ceiling lifts. They have an End stop to prevent the lift from being pulled of the rail.
8. Can “In the Base Year all straps must be replaced at the time of the Annual Service testing and inspection” be omitted? When you say “all straps” are you referring to the lift strap of the motor that needs to be replaced or the sling that a patient sits in?
Replace all straps has been removed. Only replace torn or frayed straps that do not pass inspection.
9. If lifting strap of the motor: inspections are performed according to ISO1053:2021, and the VA Corrective and Preventive Maintenance Checklist for Ceiling Mounted Patient Lifts , which indicate replacement is only necessary if threads are loose or if the strap is frayed. Same would apply for the slings that a patient sits in (replacement only if threads loose or if straps/material frayed or worn.)
Correct the same would apply.
