1. If it is the VA's need, please clarify that only new downspouts can be used and that all existing downspouts must be demoed. If it is acceptable to reuse existing downspouts, please specify.

R1: This contract will require the replacement of existing downspouts with new materials. The reuse of downspouts is not acceptable.

2. There was some indication in the site visit that only 2 new downspout locations are needed. Please clarify that we are to bid on up to 8 new downspout locations or an exact number of known locations.

R2: For bidding purposes, the VA is requiring the contractor to include the installation of 8 new downspouts in the bid. The new downspout must include connection to the existing storm sewer drain. 2 new downspouts are known to be needed; however other downspouts maybe needed in the project.

3. Is the K-type 6” gutter acceptable or is the half round gutter preferred?

R3: Half Round gutter a preferred to keep the architectural atheistic of the Fisher House.

4. Please specify what size downspout is needed.

R4: Oversized 3” x 4” Downspouts

5. Accurate bids will be dependent upon the length of the run between the building and the storm drain system. Please post as-builts for the storm drain system.

R5: Attached to the response to these questions will be the site utility site plan that includes the storm sewer system.

6. Is there a laydown area for materials near the site?

R6: The laydown area will be the open area to the north of the Fisher House

7. Will foot traffic be able to be rerouted to other entrances/exists if necessary for safety of the crew and customers/employees?

F7: Foot traffic into the building can be rerouted to 3 front entry points into the Fisher House.

8. What is the existing drainage piping used for the downspouts?

R8: There will be an attached site utility site plan showing the storm sewer system.

9. The solicitation states 8 new downspouts are to be connected into the existing drain. The COR at the site visit mentioned that only 2-4 downspouts needed to be added. What is the exact number of additional downspouts needed?

R9: See the response to Question 2

10. Can you provide drawings that show exactly where the downspouts are needed?

R10: This information will depend on the location of soil settlement around the building. We think the new drains will need to be near the inside corners of the building

11. Are there drawings showing the location of the existing drain system?

R11: There will be an attached site utility site plan showing the storm sewer system.

12. What type of drain system is in place?

R12: Currently the site’s storm sewer system in made from PVC schedule 40

13. There is current roof damage that will need to be addressed when installing the new gutter system. How will that be addressed when installing the gutters?

R13: There will need to be a separate cost to perform the work

14. Adding two downspouts, can I get a copy of the current pipe layout.

R14: There will be an attached site utility site plan showing the storm sewer system.

15. Adding two downspouts, will consist of cutting concrete and then pouring back matching concrete. Just want to point out even when matching concrete color due to being new concrete vs old you will be able to see the difference.

R15: This is understood

16. Range is $25,000-$100,000, can a company bid below the $25,000?

Yes, however itemized quotes may be requested to justify the low bid.

17. Within the SOW, it doesn’t state what design gutter to replace the existing with, would a Commercial 6” “K” style gutter be an approved design?

R17 Please is the response to Question 3

18. Subcontracting, if my company is going to subcontract out the gutters to a Small Business Gutter company, what do I need to do on my bid? I see this clause

(d) Subcontracts. The Contractor shall insert the substance of this clause, including this paragraph (d), in all subcontracts, including subcontracts for the acquisition of commercial items.
