Repair CLC Bus Stop Sidewalk 36C25721Q1060

RFI Questions and Answers

Q1.There are plan notes that include “Resurface Concrete” at the CLC main entry. Is the intent of the resurfacing to provide an epoxy floor finish to the concrete under the overhang to match the existing to remain epoxy flooring of the adjacent outdoor waiting area, see photo attached?

Answer: USE Quikrete Polymer Modified Structural Repair

Q2.Please provide the basis of design epoxy floor mfr/model/color (product used on the existing adjacent floor).

Answer: See responds to question

Q3.Will the Resurfacing Concrete at the Main Entry be able to be done in one phase (blocking the doors)? Or will one half of the area be done at a time?

Answer: yes the concrete resurfacing portion of this project must be done over a weekend.

Q4.There are plan notes that include “Resurface section of curb” at the main entry. The existing main entry curb is painted red and wouldn’t think Epoxy Flooring is intended here? What is the intent of this note at the main entry? See photo attached?

Answer: The curb portion of the sidewalk will not get resurfaced under this project.

Q5.At the site visit, there was a portion of the main entry area with cardboard taped down to the floor. What is the purpose of this and what if anything will need to be done with this area? Can this tape and board be removed so that contractors can see the existing condition? Or will this be considered a differing site condition once the board is removed? Please provide a photo of the existing condition with the board removed.

See attached photo.

Answer: this is an existing condition it is not part of this scope

Q6.If detectable pavers are required at the ada sidewalk ramps, please modify plans to show location and dimensions and provide a specification or a basis of design mfr/model.

Answer: Detectable pavers are not required.

Q7.Statement of work indicates the traffic safety plan must include location of a temporary sidewalk and the temporary sidewalk can be part of the existing roadway. We understand that the existing road in front of the sidewalks will be shut down to vehicle traffic for the duration of the project and can be the temporary walkway. If this is not a correct understanding, please clarify otherwise to all bidders by amendment.

Answer: vehicle traffic may still be in the area. The VA will not be closing off any parking in the area during this project. The contractor must provide a safe path for patient, staff, and visitors during the construction. The contractor is responsible to provide temporary barriers to protect your workers during the duration of the project. The base of the protection and waring signage should base around using water filled barricades and or pedestrian barricades

Q8.Will the VA remove equipment such as the soda machine trash cans, etc prior to concrete resurfacing work beginning?

Answer: yes

Q9. Keynote 2 on the plan states “New curb along ramp at new concrete.” Keynote 2 is also used at one of the existing bench areas to remain. Please clarify that this is an errant arrow sign and keynote 2 only applies at new ada concrete ramp areas.

Answer: Key note 2 should not be applied to the existing bench pad

Q10. Scope does not include any basecourse work underneath the new walks. If required, please revise scope by amendment.

Answer: use a well graded material like crusted limestone and limestone dust material or common flex base. The material must be compacted.

Q11. Please confirm or clarify if galvanized handrails can be used in lieu of aluminum or stainless steel.

Answer: weather suitable

Q12. Are we to dispose/abate of any asbestos, lead, mold or other hazardous material as part of this project? If so, provide appropriate hazardous material site survey report.

Answer: contractor responsibility

Q13. What will the ICRA level be for this project?

Answer: no need for ICRA

Q14. Will all work associated with this project be able to be performed during regular working hours?

Answer: perform the concrete resurfacing during the week ends
