About this file
This is a Special Notice announcing the Department of Veterans Affairs' intent to award a sole-source contract to Medtronic USA, Inc. for medical equipment and consumables related to cardiac arrhythmia treatment.
The Medical Center at the VA (MEDVAMC) is procuring the Medtronic Affera Mapping Ablation system for the Pulmonary Embolism Team in its Cardiology Catheterization Lab. The procurement includes one Affera Integrated Mapping System, one HexaGen RF Generator, one HexaFlow Irrigation Pump, one HexaPulse PF Generator, one System Cart, 133 Medtronic Sphere 9 Catheters, 33 tubing sets, 133 catheter extension cables, 33 impedance localization patch kits, and one Standard Service Agreement. The contract will be firm-fixed priced. The justification for sole sourcing to Medtronic is that the Sphere-9 Catheters are the only catheters currently available that integrate mapping, catheter placement, pulsed field ablation, and radiofrequency ablation capabilities in a single device. The FDA-approved technology is designed to treat cardiac arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation, with faster procedures and enhanced precision. Interested parties may submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations by 12:00 PM Central Time on March 24, 2026, via email to Eugene Jackson (Eugene.Jackson2@va.gov) at the VA Network Contracting Office 16, Houston, Texas. If no affirmative written response is received within 5 business days of publication, the contract will be issued to Medtronic without further notice. The solicitation number is 36C25626Q0522.
