About this file

This document contains questions and answers (Q&A) for RFI #580-20-106 regarding the installation of a sally port at a Mental Health facility. The Q&A addresses contractor questions about a renovation project at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston.

Key details include: hardware specifications for mental health doors are referenced in spec 08 71 00; contractors must use green or blue freight elevators for access; staging areas are detailed in the Site Plan; work hours are 6:00 am to 6:00 pm with heavy noise work requiring advance coordination for off-hours; no hazardous materials are expected; a full-time Site Safety Health officer is required; testing and balancing of HVAC is required before and after construction; and specific vendor information is provided for existing systems (Rauland Responder nurse call system, Honeywell-Notifier fire alarm, HID global security systems). The project will be completed in phases, with Phase I requiring completion before Phase II can begin. Corridor C6B-302 must remain accessible for egress throughout construction.
