· Dispenser hoses, nozzles, and breakaways: Inspect for loose fittings, deterioration, obvious signs of leaks, and improper functioning.
· Annual Fuel Quality testing
Pre-clean inspection and Annual quality Sampling The contractor should take a fuel sample from multiple spots in each tank. These samples should be sent to a third-party lab for analytics. Depending on the results of tank sample testing, cleaning may be required.
Tank cleaning should be accomplished by pumping out concentrated amounts of contaminated fuel, sludge, microorganisms, and water followed by filtration and adding chemicals.
Safety Precautions Any work performed should be done by trained and qualified professionals. Mandatory safety meetings will be required before work can begin on any testing or cleaning process. Work will be done without interruption to normal business at the site. Ingress and egress into the hospital cannot be blocked by any equipment. Any fire hazards should be eliminated at this time considering the contents of the tanks. Fire extinguishers will be always required at the work area. Spill containment such as absorbing pads and booms should be on hand and readily available. Pre-work equipment inspections should be completed to avoid any spillage from damaged hoses, pumps, etc.
Cleaning Process Initially, tanks will be scanned and concentrated areas of sludge, water, or dirty fuel should be removed by pumping these areas. Cleaning chemicals and additional filtering will be introduced. Filters will continue to be changed out to lower micron as the tanks and fuel is cleaned. Chemicals should kill any microorganisms or algae growth inside the tanks and remove any sludge buildup on tanks walls or floor.
All filters and chemicals will be provided by the contractor.
Clean Sample and Tank Closure A sample should then be taken of the fuel after fuel and tanks are cleaned. This sample will also be sent to an outside lab for results. Extra chemicals should be added to the tank to help prevent growth in the tank over time. Contractor will then close tanks using proper seals, gaskets, etc. to ensure no new contaminates enter the tanks around the openings.
Disposal of Waste All materials and waste removed from the tanks and surrounding areas will be disposed of in compliance with all current environmental laws; local, state, and federal, regulations and notices.
Performance Requirement:
The period of performance is a base plus 4 years contract.
