About this file

This document is an amendment to a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a medical air compressor system. The amendment provides information on a question and answer session related to the RFQ. Key details include:

The contractor will be responsible for connecting the new medical air compressor equipment to the existing master control panel, including a single point CAT 5 cable connection to the METASYS system. A temporary medical air compressor unit is already in place and operating, which is the responsibility of the VA, not the contractor. The VA is responsible for system verification. The amendment also includes pictures of the compressor pad, tank, dryer pad, and temporary rental unit. The RFQ closing date and time remain unchanged.

Question & Answer (Q&A) For RFQ 36C25624Q0670 0001 – Medical Air Compressor System

Questions Answers

SOW says: “Contractor to provide and install alarm wiring”.

a. Does this mean just removing the existing

LV wiring and hooking up the new when installed at the control panel? If not, see questions B-I below.

b. Where is the mechanical room located? Building #?

Floor?

c. Where are the master alarms panels located? Area? Floor?

d. What is the distance from the equipment pad to each of the master alarm panels?

e. Does the LV Wire have to be in conduit or can it be free air plenum rated?

f. Is there an identified path of travel from the

Mechanical room to both of the master alarm panels?

g. Does the path have any confined spaces or fall concerns?

h. Can you provide pictures of the master alarm panels?

i. Are there enough spare functions to accommodate the master alarm functions for Medical Air outlined in

NFPA 99 5.1.9.2 & 5.1.9.5.

Minimum would be:

i. Medical Air Line Pressure Low

ii. Medical Air Line

Response: The contractor will be responsible for the connection of the equipment to the compressor master control panel. We see this as a wire harness in most cases. The master control panel will need to have a single point connection for CAT 5 cable to connect to METASYS. As this response was a Yes, no responses were provided for Question b. through I.

Amendment 36C25624Q0670 0001

Pressure High

iii. Medical Air High Dew Point

iv. Medical Air System

Malfunction (this would monitor CO

Level High, High

Temp, Etc)

v. **Note** If there are not enough spare functions, this would require master alarm panels to be upgraded.

Will there be a temporary system while the new system is being installed?

a. If so, will the temporary functions need to be landed on the master alarm panels and verified prior to new work starting?

Response: Yes, a temporary unit is already in place and operating. This is the responsibility of the VA not the contractor.

Is the VA or contractor responsible for 6030 system verification?

Response: The VA is responsible for the system verification.

Can any pictures of the mechanical room be provided

Response: See attachment 1 pictures for the compressor pad, tank and dryer pad, and temporary rental unit.
