The overall purpose is needed to sustain patient care.
B. Background: The Nuclear Medicine (NUC MED) PET service is seeking to purchase multiple PET TRACER radioactive isotope or equal injections for diagnostic imaging. These PET isotopes are unit dose F-18 FDG, bulk F-18 FDG, F-18 Florbetaben Injection (NeuraCeq).
The F-18 isotopes are used for diagnosis, staging, and monitory treatment of cancers. F-18 also has been approved for diagnosing infection and Alzheimer’s disease.
C. Scope: Contractor shall provide all single unit and bulk dose of isotopes for use in NUC MED PET diagnostic imaging at MEDVAMC in Houston, Texas.

2. Salient physical, functional, or performance characteristics: F-18 is a fluorine radioisotope which is an important source of positrons. It has a mass of 18.0009380(6) u and its half-life is 109.771(20) minutes. It decays by positron emission 96% of the time and electron capture 4% of the time. Both modes of decay yield stable oxygen-18. The Contractor shall receive orders for unit dose F-18 FDG, bulk F-18 FDG, and F-18 Florbetaben Injection (NeuraCeq) from Staff Nuc Med Technologists assigned to the NUC MED Department at MEDVAMC.
