1. Regarding areas that are expected to require infection control and temporary barriers: Requesting that the VA identify the areas requiring infection control as well as the square footage and ceiling height of each area.
0. According to Infection Control Personnel all areas associated with this project are in non-patient care areas and should not require temporary barriers.
1. Shop drawings and as-builts. Would 8-1/2” x 11” or 11” x 17” sketches/drawings, submitted as PDF files, suffice?
1. Shop drawings shall be submitted full size (30”x42”) sketches/drawings submitted as PDFs. As-Builts shall be submitted full size (30”x42”) drawings as PDF files with all associated CAD files on a CD.
1. B-19 & B-26 New VFD’s. Existing VFD’s are Siemens. Are we to provide new Siemens VFD’s?
2. VFDs do not have to be Siemens but must integrate with siemens existing building management system.
1. B-19 AHU-1 & 2. Are the new outside air control dampers to receive new actuators?
3. Yes
1. B-3 Pressure Washers. SOW 2.a.i states washers are to be installed on mezzanine. Site visit and drawing identify location to be plant floor. Which location is desired?
4. Washers should be installed on plant floor and piped up to through the mezzanine to the outer wall of the boiler plant.
1. B-3 Pressure Washers. Would galvanized S40 steel pipe threaded and coupled with 150 lb. galvanized malleable threaded fittings be acceptable for corrosion resistant piping?
5. No, galvanized schedule 40 piping does not appear to support the pressure class as required by the SOW
1. B-25 Fuel Oil Return. What are acceptable buried fuel oil piping containment systems? Examples: PVDF, HDPE, Nylon 12, carbon steel carrier with FRP containment.
6. Secondary Containment for Underground Fuel Piping Systems
0. Enclose the fuel return pipes in factory-engineered and fabricated secondary containment conduit systems. The systems shall be complete with end seals, with 25 mm (1 inches) minimum continuous annular space, 40 mm (1 1/2 inches) between carrier pipes, which shall contain all leakage, and which has provisions for leak detection system as specified.
0. Steel Conduit with Fusion-Bonded Epoxy Coating:
1. Galvanized carbon steel pipe, ASTM A53/A53M, Grade B, Schedule 40 for diameters through 125 mm (5 inches), 3.4 mm (0.134 inch) thick for diameters greater than 125 mm (5 inches) up through 660 mm (26 inches). All welded construction.
1. Sand blast exterior per NACE 3.
1. Coat exterior with 0.5 mm (20 mils) thick fusion-bonded epoxy.
0. Steel Conduit with Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Coating:
2. Carbon steel pipe, ASTM A53/A53M, Grade B, Schedule 40 for diameters through 125 mm (5 inches), 3.4 mm (0.134 inch) thick for diameters greater than 125 mm (5 inches) up thru 660 mm (26 inches). All welded construction.
2. Blast clean exterior per NACE 4/SSPC-SP7.
2. Apply fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) external cladding at least 2.5 mm (0.10 inches) thick with ultra-violet inhibitor. Cladding on field joints shall be equivalent to factory-applied cladding applied on remainder of system.
2. Test entire system for holidays using a 35,000-volt holiday detector.
0. Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Conduit:
3. Conform to UL 971 and ASTM D2996 using a filament-winding process and epoxy or vinyl ester resins.
3. Design pipe, fittings and joining system for carrier pipe fuel service, 65 degrees C (150 degrees F), 1034 kPa (150 psig) pressure, 68 kPa (20 inches Hg) vacuum.
3. Provide an integral resin-rich liner, minimum thickness 0.25 mm (0.010 inch). Outer layer shall include ultra-violet inhibitors.
3. Minimum total wall thickness 1.8 mm (0.07 inch) for diameters below 200 mm (8 inches), 2.8 mm (0.11 inch) for diameters 200 mm (8 inches) and 250 mm (10 inches), 5 mm (3/16 inch) for diameters 250 mm (10 inches) through 508 mm (20 inches), and 6 mm (1/4 inch) for diameters above 508 mm (20 inches).
1. B-25 Fuel Oil Return. Is leak detection required for the new buried contained fuel oil return piping?
7. Automatic digital continuous monitoring systems responsive to the presence of water and hydrocarbons in the interstitial space of the secondary containment of fuel piping systems are required.
1. What item of work requires negative air and/or temporary smoke-tight separations?
8. Please see above (RFI 1)
1. Is this a Davis Bacon Rate job if so please supply rates?
9. Davis Bacon does apply. MS 20220050 Mod 2 dtd 02-25-2022 was in effect at time of solicitation.
1. Please clarify BLDG #19 is the piping in tank leaking or is it the underground double wall piping from the fuel tank. If so will be able to make another job walk with the piping location to run new pipe.
10. Building 19 piping is leaking inside the inspection manhole, not in the tank.
1. Building #3 the electric pressure washers need voltage and information on the washers.
11. The Easy Kleen IS404FE was the basis of design for this project. This product is not a sole source requirement, but specifications for this design were based from this product.
1. Will the pumps and the existing chill water system need to be rebalanced after the pumps or moved and replaced.
12. Yes
1. Will the controls contractor need to be involved with new VFD’s and controlling of pumps. If so need contact for the control contractor.
13. Yes, Siemens Building Technologies 601-329-1731
1. Building #3 condenser line to tie into cooling tower 1 can the new lines be suspended of the exiting structural catwalk and does the pipe need to be painted if so what cooler.
14. Condenser piping should be installed on risers not suspended from the catwalks. Piping should be painted for corrosion resistance color should match as close as possible to existing piping (Gray).
1. Building #3 OA duct please supply color for duct.
15. Sherwin Williams 6120 Believable Buff
1. Will insulation be required to be painted after pump been relocated.
16. Paint is not required, but labeling is required.
