Billy R. Morris Contracting Officer

36C25622R0077 Therapeutic Medical Physicists – QUESTIONS

1. For the part-time TMP position, is the position required to work each week? Or is this intended to be an on-call position to substitute the CTMP when on leave/absence/emergencies? We will still price as it is shown in the CLIN schedule, however, for recruiting purposes, we need to know this answer for clarification with candidates.

Answer: The solicitation does read that we need both a full time and a part time medical physicist, the immediate need is for the full time chief medical physicist at award of the contract. We are anticipating a need for an additional part time physicist in the future when our service begins doing more complex treatment methods that require the presence of a physicist at the treatment machine. We still need a price Proposal for this Line Item even though the position will not be needed immediately after Award.

Additionally, this part time Physicist is not intended to be an on-call position to substitute the CTMP when on leave/absence/emergencies. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to provide coverage in the absence of any Contract staff.

2. Will VA accept CCPM (Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine) certification in lieu of board certification through ABR, if the candidate meets citizenship related requirements?

Answer: The VA will not accept CCPM (Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine) certification in lieu of board certification through ABR.

3. Is this a new requirement being solicited? If not, can you please share the current contract number?

Answer: Current Contract Number is 36C25621C0026

4. On page 21, section 4.1, it lists: “ Services Required: Estimated 1040 hours Medical Physicist” however, Page 5, Section B.2 Schedule of Services lists “This requirement is for One (1) Full Time Chief Therapeutic Medical Physicist (CTMP) and One (1) Part Time Therapeutic Medical Physicist (TMP)”, as well, Section 4.4.1.1 lists that the CTMP reporting on-site for at least 50% of the time per week during clinical hours.

o Can you clarify if the CTMP will be a Full-Time / 40 hours a week position and that they need to be on-site 50% of the week during clinical hours and can perform work outside of those hours the remaining amount, to equate to FTE status?

Answer: Correct. The CTMP will be a Full-Time / 40 hours a week position and they need to be on-site at least 50% of the week (but may be needed 100%) during clinical hours and can perform work outside of those hours the remaining amount, to equate to FTE status (depending on what the mission requires, and what the Medical Center needs to effectively take care of patients).
