| # | SOW Reference | Question | Answer |
3.4.2 | Can the information referenced in 3.4.2.1 through 3.4.2.7 be provided in advance from the VA in an excel format | This equipment list is not considered relevant to the current contract. This list will be provided post contract.
3.5.2 | Will the VA provide access to existing a/c duplex outlets at the install locations for Base stations and repeaters to be plugged into | Per section 3.5.3, the contractor will be provided access to power outlets. If the contractor requires additional outlets, the contractor shall notify the VA no fewer than 4 weeks in advance
3.7.2 | All VA locations to date have not allowed use of their WiFi system. To date all VA locations (over 60+ locations use a wireless system installed by the manufacturer). Is Government provided WiFi approved for use? | The contractor should use 900mHz system. The vendor shall be responsible for providing and installing the necessary infrastructure for this. The contractor installed system during this contract shall not interfere with the existing 900 mHz system.
3.10.2 | Can you provide a list of all CBOC locations and their addresses? | See question #11
5.1 | This request appears to contradict 3.7.2 stating a “non-VA OIT Wi-Fi network” please clarify | See question #3
5.3 | The Term “go Live” is no longer in use by Copper Atkins and has been replaced with “On-Site Departmental Configuration” and is a one day onsite departmental configuration visit. Is this request for each department using TempTrak and if so how many departments will be using TempTrak? | We will need no more than 20 trainings to occur with VA departments. Please note, this does not mean that there are only 20 departments affected by this installation. In addition, this response does not mean that vendors are restricted to the installation of Temptrak only. All traiings must be completed over the 3 day period. Group trainings are anticipated.
5.5.2 | This request would require 3 days of “On-Site Departmental Configuration Assistance. Please clarify if this is being considered for all departmental users and how many departments and users will require training. | See question #6

5.1 | This request appears to contradict 3.7.2 stating a “non-VA OIT Wi-Fi network” please clarify | See question #3
With respect to the RFP for Environmental Monitoring, one of the biggest questions I have is concerning the terms "WiFi" and "Wireless". Is the term "WiFi" in your RFP synonymous with the term "Wireless? To the best of my knowledge Wifi devices on the VA WiFi network must be FIPS compliant which is why almost all facilities within the VA typically uses 900mhz. Please clarify. | The contractor should use 900mHz system. The vendor shall be responsible for providing and installing the necessary infrastructure for this. The contractor installed system during this contract shall not interfere with the existing 900 mHz system.
Is it permissiable to replace the existing Metasys workstation to facilitate the SOW? | No, the existing Metasys workstation must remain in place. The vendor cannot tie into the network associated with this unit but may be able to utilize the existing sensors if it can be developed to meet the reporting requirements outlines in the SOW
What systems at the facility are currently connected to the Temptrak© system? | Sterile Process Systems (SPS)
Should the remote monitoring system provide “command and control” or view and recording only? | View and recording
IF the vendor utilizes some of the existing Metasys building automation system, would the new vendor be responsible to repair any outstanding problems with the Metasys system or will that VA or some other entity be responsible for ensure full operability of the existing Johnson Controls Metasys system? | The contractor will not be responsible for correcting existing issues with Metasys, however if it is discovered that contractor work associated with this contract resulted in programming or system issues with the system, the contractor shall be responsible for addressing the issues and providing a detailed report concerning changes made, issues addressed and final work outcomes.
Does the SOW require recommissioning the existing Metasys and Temptrak system? | Recommissioning is required is tie in is completed to the systems.
Will the Veterans Administration hospital allow the new Siemens software to be installed on the VA’s network? | This should not be tied into the VA network.
Is the existing Metasys installed on the VA’s network either directly, through a VLan or virtual server? | No, it is an internal network only to 2400 Canal St. Campus
Does the VA currently have a means to get data from the existing Metasys BAS to a remote location to be monitored remotely? | No, the exisitng Metasys system does not communicate outside of the 2400 Canal St. Campus
What is the process for the vendor to ensure the reliability and security of their software and their network, if the vendor is required to provide their own network? | The contractor shall provide a detailed network diagram outlining means and methods of integration. Should the contractor install a network that requires communication to "outside world" aka internet access, the contractor shall provide all equipment required such as VLAN, firewalls, internet service provider (ISP), etc. The VA will not require administrative rights to the network, but would require access to the system to make programming changes. The VA shall own the internal 900 mHz network but the vendor shall own external network (ISP connection, etc). All equipment installed under this contract shall be owned by the VA.
Would the VA consider utilizing the current infrastructure to avoid adding new servers? | New servers are required. The existing 900mHz systems in use in SPS can be reused if it is compatible with the new system to be installed under this contract
Your RFP is asking for WiFi transmitters. To my knowledge, I do not know of any Temperature (Environmental) Monitoring systems on the VA WiFi systems. Most VA's are using wireless systems installed by Cooper Atkins and in a few cases other vendors, but none that I know of use the VA's WiFi network. To date, TempTrak is currently in use at over 70 VA locations (see list at end of my message). Can you please clarify Wifi or 900mhz? Two different systems and we manufacture both Wifi and 900Mhz. Your current TempTrak system is 900MHZ. | Vendor shall use 900 mHz system
