STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENTS
3T Breast Coil Equipment
1. Objective
The objective of this procurement is to acquire a dedicated 3T Breast Coil compatible with the facility’s existing Siemens Healthineers 3T MRI system to improve breast imaging quality, enhance diagnostic capabilities, and support expanded women’s imaging services.
2. Scope of Work
The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, delivery, installation, testing, training, and support necessary for a fully operational 3T Breast Coil compatible with the existing MRI platform.
3. Equipment Requirements/Specifications:
The dStream Sentinelle Breast is a dedicated digital 16ch breast coil with wide-open access and adaptive imaging elements, which can be adjusted to the patient’s breast size. Ergonomic design helps to improve patient comfort. The coil is designed to deliver high performance in coverage, image resolution, and imaging speed for both diagnostic and interventional breast studies by enabling access to all 4 quadrants of the breast. The coil is capable of uni-lateral and bilaterial diagnostic imaging and biopsies.
The Sentinelle 16-Chanel Breast Coil System is a tabletop coil design providing diagnostic and interventional capabilities. This system supports high speed-up factors for parallel imaging and the ability to perform advanced imaging applications including spectroscopy and diffusion weighted imaging. The coil also features our patented Variable Coil Geometry with independently adjustable left and right elements to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio for each patient.
Other manufacturers only offer 4 channel systems, 16 channel coils offer a higher signal to noise ratio which produces superior imaging quality.
The 3T Breast Coil shall:
• Be fully compatible with the facility’s existing Siemens Healthineers 3T MRI system
• Support high-resolution breast MRI imaging
• Provide optimized signal-to-noise ratio and image quality
• Support standard breast imaging protocols and positioning requirements
• Include all required accessories, cables, mounts, and hardware
• Meet all FDA regulatory requirements applicable to MRI accessories
4. Installation and Implementation
The contractor shall:
• Deliver and install the breast coil at the designated VA facility
• Coordinate installation activities with Biomedical Engineering and Radiology Service
• Conduct operational and compatibility testing
• Ensure proper integration with existing MRI workflows
5. Training Requirements
The contractor shall provide training for MRI technologists and Radiology staff, including:
• Proper setup and operation
• Patient positioning procedures
• Cleaning and maintenance procedures
• Troubleshooting guidance
Training materials and user manuals shall be included.
6. Warranty and Support
The contractor shall provide:
• Minimum one-year manufacturer warranty
• Technical support services
• Repair or replacement coverage for manufacturer defects
• Access to service support and replacement parts
7. Acceptance Criteria
Acceptance shall occur upon:
• Successful delivery and installation
• Completion of compatibility and operational testing
• Completion of staff training
• Verification that the breast coil performs according to manufacturer specifications and clinical requirements
