B.3 STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENTS

ULTRASOUND

These units must able to perform all routine diagnostic radiology and vascular sonographic applications, and (in the advanced technology units) to perform echocardiography as an option. They must have high efficiency with high patient throughput, and high image quality applying state-of-the-art 2D (and possibly 3D and 4D) technology. The system must provide easy quantification, reporting, storage, and review of exam information. The system must facilitate ergonomic working conditions and reduce biomechanical stress for sonographers. This is accomplished through the ability to adjust the system monitor and control panel height and articulation, user interface optimization, ease of use, and other factors to address the needs of sonographers to maximize patient access, user comfort, and productivity. The systems will need to provide high quality diagnostic imaging, especially for difficult cases and challenging patients.
