The Medical vacuum compressor system must be NFPA 99 (latest) compliant and a completely oil less system. The unit will consist of three five horsepower Electric motors totaling 15 horse power which will provide for 38 SCFM @ 19” Hg. A UL listed electrical control system with a human to machine interface (HMI). An ASME National Board registered vacuum 120-gallon receiver. An alarm system connected to the MSA in ER, and Boiler alarm panels. An extra coupling added so a spare vacuum compressor can be hooked up temporarily.

Motors: All three motors shall be no less than 5 horsepower (hp) and NEMA rated. The pumps and motors shall deliver no less than 38 CFM’s at 19” Hg. Three phase electricity not less than 480 volts alternating current (AC) and is 60 Hertz (HZ) cycle.

Pumps: The pumps shall be claw type vacuum pumps with TEFC high efficiency electric motor couplings, (5) micron inlet filter, vibration isolators, high temp switch, vacuum relief valve and a check valve. The pumps and shall deliver no less than 38 CFM’s at 19” Hg.

Receiver Tank: The receiving tank shall be no less than 120 gallons capacity with a resistive coating to prevent corrosion. The tank must be A.S.M.E. National Board registered and the receiver must have a vacuum gauge and manual drain.

Control Panel: The control panel must be comprised of UL listed, Nema 12 and labeled with control transformers with disconnect protected primary and secondary circuits. The panel shall have automatic alternation and reserve pump “In Use” alarm with visual and audible indicators. Each vacuum shall be equipped with a circuit breaker disconnect, magnetic starter, run light, HOA switch, hour meter and high temp shutdown. It will have a PLC to control the operation of the system and a touch screen for human interface. The control system must be UL listed and meets all requirement of the NFPA 99 requirements for a medical vacuum system. The touch screen and alarms will be mounted to the front door of the panel along with all required switches for selecting pumps, acknowledge button. The touch screen will allow any user to view the operation of the system, any alarm status, factory set points and navigate through the screens to get more information on the system as well and setting the controls of each individual pump.

2. Scope of Work:

Alarms shall be connected and functioning properly to the MSA in ER, alarm panel, and boiler room alarm panel. Onsite training will be provided for engineering maintenance employees on operations and basic trouble shooting of this system. Informing all personnel affected by this project must be done prior to starting the project.

Removal of Existing Vacuum Compressor: Lock out Tag of this system must be done prior to anything being disconnected. All power must be removed from both the vacuum prior to its removal. All the stored air must be discharged prior to any work being done on the removal of the vacuum compressor system. Any kinetic energy must be discharged or made immobile prior to any removal of this equipment. Once all stored energy is removed disconnecting the inlet and outlet vacuum lines can be done. Re-use of these lines is essential. Save all that can be saved so it can be re-used when installing the new vacuum system. Once all the vacuum lines have been disconnected the motors, pumps can be removed and discarded. The tank can be removed from the base and discarded. We have a location for all metal items located here on campus. All discarded metal, motors, pipes can be placed in this scrap metal area behind the Quonset buildings.

Installation of New Vacuum Compressor: New vacuum compressor can be delivered from the loading dock and moved to each location for installation via the back loading dock. Put the new unit in its permanent place of residence and align with the existing vacuum lines to be reconnected. Connect the vacuum lines to the new system with permanent pipe in accordance with the NFPA 99 code and certification for medical vacuum compressors. Connect the electrical connections to the new unit as needed for proper power supply according to OSHA regulations. This system will be installed with all medical vacuum certification requirements and certificates.

3. Location of Work: The new vacuum compressor will be installed in Building 38 room 401 and Building 42 room A109 at the Marion VMAC, 2401 West Main St. Marion Illinois.

4. Period of Performance: This removal, replacement, and installation of the new medical vacuum compressors will be completed as soon as possible. A date and time can be agreed upon so as not to interfere with medical procedures that day. Removal and installation need to happen quickly so we can get the new system up and ready for use quickly.

5. Deliverables Schedule: Vendor will deliver the new system via hired freight prior to the time of the scheduled replacement.

6. Applicable Standards: This system and installation will meet all NFPA 99 and medical vacuum certifications.

7. Acceptance Criteria: The medical vacuum compressor system will be placed into service, monitored, and certified for proper operation and system training to VMAC maintenance personnel is completed.

8. Special Requirements: All vendor work crews will be screened for possible covid 19 infection. They will be required to wear face masks at all time inside the Hospital. No smoking on VMAC property.

9. Type of Contract/Payment Schedule: The procurement and payment of this requirement is expected to be paid upon completion of services rendered.
