X X Project 657A5-08-119 - Renovate Patient Rooms Ward 2a Phase II
Close date and time remain unchanges since the last amendment, respond by 1/4/18 at 1400 CST
This amendment is to answer questions related to the solicitation and post the Site Visit Sign In Sheet
Project: 657A5-08-119 Renovate Patient Rooms Ward 2a Phase II Questions and Answers Question #1: On sheet AS-1521 it show detail 3/AS1522 for the detail between the patient room entry and patient room where the ceiling height at the entry is shown at 7’ 6” high and patient room is at 8’ 6” high. The problem I have run into is no one makes the Metal channel trim in that height that would work. The widest trim they make will give a difference of 10” ceiling height in lieu of 12” difference. Is this acceptable?
Answer #1: The A/E called the manufacturer specifically about this during the design process. The manufacturer stated that it is ok to combine/stack the channels. On detail 3/AS1522, it states “Stack channels as required to provide closure trim between ceiling transitions.”
Question #2: The following doors show note 12 on sheet TM-101 which states PACS system on the door. The following doors do not show electric locks in the door hardware specification.
Door number Hardware set 210A HW-SH-3C Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
202A HW-11 Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
204A HW-SH-3C Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
205A HW-SH-3C Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
208A HW-SH-3C Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
210A HW-4E Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
211A HW-3E Revise to HW-SH-3C (Push Button Combo).
211B HW-3E Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
219A HW-5D Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
227A HW-11B Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
The following doors do not have a hardware set listed in division 8 211C HW-SC-3C Hardware set is specified as HW-SC-3C on page 24 of Section 08 71 00. Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
222 HW-3G Hardware set is currently specified as HW-3G. Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
Are these doors to have access control on them?
Answer #2: Revise hardware sets as noted.
Question #3: Drawing TM-101 shows 2 doors on the third floor partial plan that calls out PACS system. These doors do not have a door number listed on the A drawings. What are the door numbers for these doors and what door hardware set are they using?
Answer #3: Detail 3, Sheet AS120 indicates the door numbers. Doors hardware sets are shown on the door schedule as 345A and 345B. Revise hardware sets as follows:
345A - Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
345B - Revise to HW-SH-3 (PACS).
Question #4: Do any of the PACS doors require a combination card reader and keypad for dual authentication?
Answer #4: Only if the hardware schedule calls for it. Revised hardware is listed on question #2.
Question #5: In specification 283100, item 1.1, section C – Fire Alarm Signals; and item 2.4 Voice Communication System; and item 4.2 Digitized Voice Messages – It is understood that this is to be a voice evac notification. Is the contractor to simulate chimes from the speakers as the balance of the building is not voice evac yet? This simulation is what was done on the last few projects. It is understood that once the building has completed change to voice evac, the speakers will operate as outline in this specification.
Answer #5: This is correct system is to be set up for future Voice Evac and chime on speakers for current indication signal.
Question #6: In specification 283100, item 1.6 – Guarantee Services – In the past projects, this section has been eliminated from the scope. Is that the intent of the VA?
Answer #6: Guarantee Services for fire alarms are not required.
Question #7: On sheet AS-1521 it show detail 3/AS1522 for the detail between the patient room entry and patient room where the ceiling height at the entry is shown at 7’ 6” high and patient room is at 8’ 6” high. The problem I have run into is no one makes the Metal channel trim in that height that would work. The widest trim they make will give a difference of 10” ceiling height in lieu of 12” difference.
Is this acceptable?
Answer #7: See answer from question #1 Question #8: On MH202 the notes on EF-1 & EF-2 on the roof plan tell us to installed “Grade A and Grade E” filters in the vertical risers but I can’t find anything in the specs that tells me what these filters should be. Please provide clarification on these filters.
Answer #8: In Specification Section 23 40 00 HVAC Air Cleaning Devices, MODIFY Paragraph 2.3 title to read: "Medium Efficiency Pleated Panel Pre-Filters (2”; MERV 8; UL 900 Class 2) - TYPE E".
MODIFY Paragraph 2.4 title to read: "High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) Filters Standard Capacity (Final Filter Application) - TYPE A".
Question #9: On MH201 the plan notes indicate a relief fan tagged RF-3 be installed near AHU-2 however no data for RF-3 is located in any of the schedules. Please provide information on RF-3.
Answer #9: Revise Reference to RF-3 to Reference 2-RF-1 to match AHU-2 elevation drawing on same sheet.
Question #10: Under bid item #4 do the ceilings in the patient rooms remain the same height as shown on plan or are you doing away with the different heights and just installing a flat ceiling?
Answer #10: Under bid item #4, the suspended acoustical ceiling within the patient room to be installed at one level (8’-6” a.f.f.). All soffits and suspended ceiling at the entrance to the patient room/ante rooms to remain at the indicated height of 7’-6” a.f.f.
Question #11: On sheet AS4120 partition note #4 calls for all corners to be bullnose. Does this also apply to the drywall soffit corners?
Answer #11: No Clarification: Sheet AS1820 – Equipment Schedule – Add remark 9 as follows:
9. 3 Tier, 9 Door Locker Unit Overall Dimensions: Height: 78” Width: 36” Depth: 15” Locker Unit Width: Height: 24” Width: 12” Depth: 15”
