Solicitation Amendment Summary
This is Amendment 0001 to Request for Quote (RFQ) 36C25226Q0557 issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Great Lakes Acquisition Center - HC (Milwaukee, Wisconsin). The amendment provides answers to vendor questions and schedules a mandatory site visit for the Air Handling Units (AHU) refurbishment project at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.
The site visit is scheduled for Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM local time at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, 820 S Damen Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60612, where Contracting Officer Representative Manuel Alvarado will meet interested parties in the lobby. The Government emphasizes that attendance is strongly suggested and expected, and vendor absence at the site visit does not constitute grounds for claims after contract award. In response to six RFQ questions, the Government clarified that detailed technical specifications regarding AHU dimensions, square footage, equipment lists, drawings, and interior photographs are not currently available and will not be obtained prior to quote submission; vendors are directed to attend the site visit for this information. The Government also indicated willingness to consider UV-C coil/air handler/airstream irradiation as an optional enhancement or supplemental component if fully explained in submitted quotes, though it stated unfamiliarity with this method. All other terms and conditions of the original solicitation remain unchanged.

Site Visit Information
A. SITE VISIT:
A site visit has been scheduled for this requirement. It is strongly suggested and expected that interested vendors inspect the campus to be serviced to fully understand the nature of the work and the conditions under which the work is to be performed. In no case shall a contractor’s absence at a site visit to inspect the campus constitute grounds for a claim after contract award.
THE SITE VISIT IS SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, JULY 13, 2026, AT 10:00 AM LOCAL TIME.
COR MANUEL ALVARADO WILL MEET ALL INTERESTED PARTIES IN THE LOBBY OF THE
JESSE BROWN VA MEDICAL CENTER, 820 S DAMEN AVENUE, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS 60612.
RFQ Questions
1. Could the Government provide the dimensions (length, width, and height) of each of the 11 Air Handling Units?
No, that information is not currently available, and the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (JBVAMC) will be unable to obtain that information prior to when quotes are due. It is strongly recommended that potential vendors attend the site visit.
2. Is there a schedule, drawing, or equipment list showing the dimensions or approximate square footage of each AHU?
No, that information is not currently available, and JBVAMC will be unable to obtain that information prior to when quotes are due. It is strongly recommended that potential vendors attend the site visit.
3. Are there any photographs of the interior of the Air Handling Units that can be shared?
Pictures of the interior of the Air Handling Units are not available, and JBVAMC will be unable to obtain any pictures prior to when quotes are due. It is strongly recommended that potential vendors attend the site visit.
4. Can the Government provide the approximate surface area (square feet) that will require epoxy, fire barrier, antimicrobial coating, and coil refurbishment?
No, that information is not currently available, and JBVAMC will be unable to obtain that information prior to when quotes are due. It is strongly recommended that potential vendors attend the site visit.
5. Will a site visit be scheduled, or can interested contractors coordinate a site visit prior to submitting a quote?
A site visit is scheduled for Monday, July 13, 2026. See above for full details.
6. Would the VA consider UV-C coil/air handler/airstream irradiation as an optional enhancement, additive line item, or supplemental component within the AHU refurbishment scope, if proposed by a qualified mechanical contractor or teaming partner?
JBVAMC is not familiar with the method suggested. This method may be considered so long as it is fully explained in a quote submitted in response to the Solicitation.
