THE PURPOSE OF THIS MODIFICATION IS TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS BELOW:

FREDERICK WEDDINGTON

CONTRACTING OFFICER

Asphalt Crack Sealing – Bidder Questions

1. Are bids based on asphalt crack filling of 1,607,900 SF of asphalt or do bidders need to measure asphalt areas?

· Yes, quotes should be based off SF provided. No, contractors are not required to measure the square footage of the asphalt area.

2. The bid documents don’t indicate any striping. If crack repairs cross striping, does the striping need to be touched up?

· No line striping required.

3. On page 12 of the Solicitation under Item Information the Quantity is shown as “1” and the Unit is “JB”. This suggests the Unit Cost is a lump sum and would be the same as the Total Cost.

Should a cost/SF or cost/LF be included so quantities can be adjusted if needed?

· Costs should be estimated by cost/SF.

4. There are areas of asphalt that are beyond repair by crack filling. An example of this is Chapel Lane. Will areas not suitable for crack filling be removed from the scope of work? How will the cost for work in these areas be quantified?

· Areas such as this are not part of the SOW and have not been included in the total square footage amount.

5. What is the contract duration for this project?

· Four weeks from the start of project after award (work to be completed during non-operational hours and weekends).

6. There are several areas with significant spider cracking. An example of this is at the end of Flower Drive at Building 102. We recommend patching the asphalt instead of crack filling in areas like this. Should the bids exclude crack filling at badly cracked areas like this?

· Exclude areas with extreme spider cracking and these areas have not been included in the total SF footage amount.

7. The campus map shows Zablocki drive extending north past I-94, but the map cuts off before the end of the road. Should crack filling be included on Zablocki drive all the way to Bluemound rd?

· Yes, but exclude the area of Zablocki Drive north of Gen Mitchell Blvd and South of the I-94 bridge.

8. SOW states cracks ranging from 1/8” to ¾” shall be sealed. Will cracks over ¾” need to be repaired?

· Yes, cracks up to 1” will need to be sealed. Anything over 1” will not be sealed.

9. Will parking lots be cleared when surfaces need to be clean and sealed?

· Yes, all coordination for the clearing of parking lots and road closures will be scheduled between the awardee and the COR.

10. Will pot holes need to be patched?

· No.

11. Are the gravel parking lots included in this SOW?

· No, the gravel parking lots will not be included in the requirement.

12. Is the Hank Aaron trail which goes through the VA grounds be included for asphalt repair?

· No, Hank Aaron trail is not VA property.

13. When will the next site visit be?

· The new site visit date will be March 15, 2019 at 9:00 A.M. in building 70 of the Milwaukee VA Medical Center; Room 70E Facility Managements Office.
