PROJECT 537-18-161 CORRECTIONS TO FUME HOODS & BIO-SAFETY CABINET

This amendment issued to extend the closing date and time and to disseminate RFIs. Please see the following pages for the RFI questions and answers.

The closing date and time is extended to December 19, 2018 at 11:30 am CST. The location remains the same.

All other terms and conditions remain the same and in full force and effect.

537-18-161 Corrections to Fume Hoods & Bio-Safety Cabinets RFIs #2

· Drawing 1B-M9 “FOURTH FLOOR BLDG. 1B” the scale calls for ¼” = 1’-0”. If you measure the doorways at ¼”= 1’ the dimensions are 1’-3” showing that the scale is incorrect. Please see attached.

· This will affect lineal footage of new duct to be installed and overall bid cost A 1/4 “ = 1’-0” scale was used when developing the CAD drawings, but in making the corresponding pdf to fit on an E size sheet, the scale became 1” = 10’ – 0” so the long length of the duct work in the corridor measures 8.87 inches which translates 87.7 feet.

· Drawing 11A-M3 – “EXHAUST FAN REPLACEMENT” detail calls for 25% of exhaust fan flow to come from the interior and 75% to come from the Outside Air (O.A.) to dilute the exhaust air.

· Fan HE-18F is scheduled to be 2700CFM. HE-18F exhausts lab hoods H9, H11, & H13 with a total 2595CFM. Utilizing the “EXHAUST FAN REPLACEMENT” detail the calculation will be 2595CFM + 75% OA = 10,380CFM. This calculation will require larger exhaust fans affecting the project cost.

· This is true for other Exhaust Fans on the project and will affect project costs

Contractor is right, drawing only states the flow from the label hoods

· They have a note calling for “Lab exhaust applications to have a 1” external insulation on all ductwork exposed to the elements, provide water proof chemical resistant jacket” 11A-M3 bottom left. This is not standard practice since it’s exhaust and the material is Stainless Steel Already.

· This is anticipated to add a large unnecessary cost to the project.

It is acceptable to have the insulation removed.
