1. Can the patient coordinator provide a daily list of open rooms?
1. In the past for the annual inspections we asked the contractor to give us a one to two-week lead time so that we can inform safe patient handling. Safe patient handling then passes the information to the nurse managers so that the contractors are able to perform the inspections with minimal interference.
1. Let us know if further clarification is needed.
1. Is there an excel file of EEs, SNs, lift model – by room?
1. Yes, we can provide an updated list via Excel by EE#, SN, lift model and current location before the visit.
1. Is there equipment storage available with electric outlets?
1. There is room to store equipment on a limited basis. Electric outlets are available.
1. End of life on most lifts is 10 years…many of the units are older than that. What is the VA’s position on these units if they are down? Will the VA retire these units and replace them with new ones or will they want them repaired?
1. Our past practice has been to repair all units unless one of the following happens.
2. If the unit has reached an overall count of 20,000 lifts, we then take it out of service.
2. Or if there have been multiple repairs or patient complaints in a short span of time, i.e. weeks to less than 3 months, then the Hines Bed Shop and Contractor could discuss and decide to take the unit out of service.
1. Can you provide more details on…. Contractor will furnish any required “PM kits” needed to perform Preventive Maintenance and inspections.
1. “PM Kits” it would cover the basic tools and materials needed to repair on the spot repairs found during semi-annual or annual inspections.
3. Batteries
3. Hand controls
3. Cross brace foam replacement
3. Covers for units
3. Lift straps
1. VA has “spares” of patient lifts will these be used by contractor to replace down units and then those needing repair be put back into “spares”?
1. Yes, that is correct.
