Megan R. Wallace Questions and Answers
#1 Are there plumbing Drawing to show where the Marlo RO Water Line Go in the Facility.
There is a plumbing drawing on file in our Planning and Design department. They are currently working through some scanner/plotter technical issues but are going to get me a digital copy of this print as soon as they are back online.
#2 I did not notice sample ports at either storage tank for tanking Plate count samples. Can you direct us as to the location you are sampling now?
I asked the tech who is currently providing our quarterly PM, he states that he currently pulls the sample from the product sample valve on the front of the RO unit. VA plans to explore this further between now and when the new contract is awarded to determine the feasibility of adding sample ports directly on the existing tanks, or directly downstream of the tank discharge piping for a more accurate reading of conditions in the tanks.
#3 is there a Standard operating Procedure for the annual disinfection of the product water tanks and piping?
There is not a local SOP in place at this time, however, manufacturer recommendations state that: disinfection be performed by using 100% hydrogen peroxide or peroxyacetic acid. Each machine has specific instructions for disinfectant quantity/process. Product Operation and Maintenance manuals are on hand and copies can be provided to vendors at their request
#4 Both the Marlo and the Suez -Ameriwater Systems call for Feed water Chlorides, Ionic Contaminants, TOC, Hardness and PH. Since they have the same feed water does it make since to only send 1 sample to the lab for testing or do you want 2 separate feed water samples reported on?
Although both machines are, in theory, fed from the same water source; due to them being in different areas VA is required to have samples and results for the above mentioned parameters for each system’s feed water directly before entering the equipment. We will need 2 separate feed water reports, 1 per machine each quarter.
#5 What specific Equipment does the marlo RO supply?
-2 EA. steam sterilizers -1 EA. hydro sonic cleaner (fed from a wall box) (box has one ½” feed of softened/filtered water only and one ½” feed of RO water) -1 EA. washer/disinfector (this machine is fed with water from both systems for separate functions)
#6 What specific equipment do the Ameriwater system supply?
-1 EA. faucet on multi-basin sink -1 EA. washer/disinfector (this machine is fed from both systems for separate functions)
#2 4.1 subtask 1 states annual RO rebed. Is this supposed to be Carbon Rebed or RO Membranes?
This subtask applies to the RO membranes.
To follow up on another question that was asked during the site visit that was not listed above:
To clarify some confusion on the pipe insulation lableling, the ½” pipe labeled “RO water” originating from the Marlo softener/filter/RO system is mis-labeled. That label should read “softened/filtered water”, as it comes directly post the filter/softener, but before entering the RO system. The second 1 ½” pipe is, in fact the RO outgoing water going into the SPS area.
