3. Questions and Answers

a. QUESTION: Can you please confirm the location of performance?

ANSWER: Ann Arbor VAMC located at 2215 Fuller Road in Ann Arbor, MI 48105 and Toledo CBOC located at 1200 South Detroit Avenue in Toledo, OH 43614.

b. QUESTION: Please define "in-room pickup".

ANSWER: This refers to each room in which sharps are generated in throughout the facilities (Ann Arbor & Toledo). The contractor will have to go into each room to switch out sharps containers as they fill up.

c. QUESTION: Is this a full-service contract, which we have an employee exchange sharps containers throughout the medical facility or do we swap out clean with full sharps containers in one specified waste collection room near the loading dock (dock-to-dock service)?

ANSWER: It is a full-service contract. The contractor will exchange sharps containers throughout the facilities.

d. QUESTION: Are bidders required to only use sharps containers and products manufactured by Stericycle as no other manufacture’s containers securely fit the Stericycle BioSystems locking wall mounts shown in the solicitation?

ANSWER: Yes, that is correct.

e. QUESTION: “Sharps containers shall be compatible with the existing hardware/mounting brackets”. Does the VA own all of the Stericycle manufactured 2- and 3-gallon locking wall mounts, 4-gallon cabinets, and 8 gallon and 17-gallon dollies currently in use?

ANSWER: The VA does not own the existing hardware/mounting brackets.

f. QUESTION: The locking wall mounts shown in the solicitation are used for the 2- and 3-gallon sharps containers. 50% of the total sharp’s containers are of the 4-gallon size. Are the 4-gallon sharps containers being required to be placed in the Stericycle BioSystems locking wall cabinets or the locking wire wall brackets?

ANSWER: It would be in the locking wall cabinets or locking ring.

g. QUESTION: Are the 8-gallon sharps containers which sit on the floor required to be placed in a wire dolly or wire step-on dolly? (Referenced in the SMS BioSystems Product Guide for sharps). If so, which type of dolly – wire dolly or step-on dolly?

ANSWER: Both.

h. QUESTION: If dollies are required what are the quantities of each type?

ANSWER: Wire dolly= 80% and Step on dolly= 20%

i. QUESTION: Are the 17-gallon sharps containers which sit on the floor required to be placed in a wire step-on dolly or black dolly? (Referenced in the SMS BioSystems Product Guide for sharps) If so, which type of dolly – black dolly or wire step on dolly?

ANSWER: Both.

j. QUESTION: If dollies are required what are the quantities of each type?

ANSWER: Black dolly= 10% and Wire Step on dolly= 90%

k. QUESTION: “…729 each. Is this an annual or monthly number?”

ANSWER: Ann Arbor and Toledo estimated totals are monthly.
