CONSTRUCTION SCOPE OF WORK

Project # 552-18-507

TASK ONE

REPLACE ASPHALT SHINGLE ROOF SYSTEM

Provide complete construction services to remove and replace existing roof, drip and rake edges, and valleys on Building (B) #128. The location of building is on the campus of the Dayton VA Medical Center, 4100 W. Third Street Dayton, Ohio.

Design work has been developed from the previous project. Pertinent drawing, technical specifications and documents are included with this solicitation. The Construction Contractor shall have 45 calendar days to complete this project. The National Cemetery is located directly adjacent to the work area. In the event that a funeral service takes place during working hours, all work will be temporarily halted. These services normally take 20-30 minutes. Work shall resume upon completion of the services.

The asphalt shingle roof at B-128 will be replaced with a product that has been previously approved by the State Historical Preservation Office (SHPO) CertainTeed, Highland Slate Designer Shingles, 30-year, Smokey Quartz. The Construction Contractor shall provide all edge, vent stack, and valley metal in a color that corresponds naturally with the color of designated shingles. The Construction Contractor shall be directed to evaluate the condition of the roof deck, and repair as needed with material that matches the existing roof deck.

The Construction Contractor shall replace or repair equipment or finishes scheduled to remain if damaged during work.

The Construction Contractor shall provide overhead safety protection at all points of entry that are near work being performed. The Construction Contractor shall provide safety fencing or other suitable guides to allow all personnel direct entry and exiting routes so work shall not be impeded.

The Contractor shall perform all necessary quality control and design review to identify and correct all design errors and omissions and shall not rely on Government review for such purposes. The Contractor shall provide a detailed description of its quality control plan for ensuring documents have been thoroughly reviewed for proper design coordination and errors and omission identification and corrections.

All necessary work shall be in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local building codes. All applicable SMACNA and NRCA standards shall be followed.
