About this file
This is a pre-solicitation notice of intent to sole source a replacement Avidity Science Bottle Filling Station (Edstrom Model BFS-675) for the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Office of Research and Development (R&D), Regional Procurement Office (RPO) - East in Pittsburgh, PA intends to award this contract on a sole source basis to replace equipment that is twenty years old and has reached the end of its life expectancy. The facility requires the replacement to be the identical size and make/model to utilize existing space, power hookups, drain, and water inlet valve without requiring new construction or abatement.
The Avidity Science Bottle Filling Station must be made in the USA with a 316 stainless steel frame and cabinet featuring corrosion-resistant wetted parts compatible with untreated, purified, acidified, and chlorinated water. Key specifications include capabilities to chlorinate, acidify, or medicate bottled water for animals; adjustable, no-drip fill nozzles; interchangeable custom-designed fill manifolds for multiple bottle sizes; two user-programmable fill times; removable sidewalls for conveyor feed systems; and solution and injection tanks for easy access. The discharge capacity must be 1000 to 1200 ML/min per dispensing nozzle. The contract scope includes removal of the old unit and installation of the replacement. While this is not a request for competitive quotes, any responsible source that is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or authorized representative capable of providing equivalent service with the described features may submit a proposal for consideration.
