About this file
This is a Sources Sought Notice for market research purposes issued by the Veterans Health Administration Regional Procurement Office East. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Columbia Health Care System, is seeking information regarding vendors capable of supplying two (2) non-contact, quantitative corneal esthesiometer units. The devices must use controlled air pulse stimuli for corneal sensitivity testing rather than mechanical filaments, deliver standardized quantitative multi-level stimulation, and include an integrated Electronic Positioning System with infrared LED alignment for consistent testing distance. The esthesiometers must be fully portable and handheld with optional slit lamp mounting capability, operate as stand-alone units without external computers or software, require no calibration or routine maintenance beyond normal cleaning, and demonstrate repeatable performance suitable for preclinical research. All units must be new, fully functional, covered under a two-year manufacturer's warranty, and include accessories such as battery, charging dock, and manuals.
Responses are due by August 4, 2026, at 4:00 PM Eastern Time and should be submitted to Contract Specialist Matenoa Taufa at matenoa.taufa@va.gov. Respondents must be an Original Equipment Manufacturer, authorized dealer, authorized distributor, or authorized reseller of the proposed system and should provide a capability statement including general industry knowledge, subcontract networks, and small business information. Delivery is required to Columbia VAMC, 800 Hospital Dr, Columbia, MO 65201, with no installation or IT support required. This Sources Sought is for acquisition planning and market research purposes only; responses will not be returned, no debriefs will be conducted, and no costs will be paid by the Government for submitted responses.
