DESCRIPTION

Regional Procurement Office (RPO) - East intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute (ACRI) to obtain specialized mass spectrometry services for the James J. Peters VA Medical Center (Bronx). Dr. Mario G. Ferruzzi’s research group at ACRI specializes in the metabolism and bioavailability of plant-derived phenolics and carotenoids.

Dr. Mario Ferruzzi is an expert in plant derived phenolics and carotenoids. He and his team developed the methods to isolate and measure malvidin-glucoside, dihydrocaffeic acid and their metabolites in the plasma, brain and other tissues. He and his team have worked with Dr. Jun Wang and her research team at the Bronx VAMC since 2007. He has conducted all bioavailability and pharmacokinetics studies related to the current study and, together, published several bioavailability and metabolisms studies of phenolics and carotenoids.

The service requested is to quantitatively measure malvidin-glucoside and dihydrocaffeic acid and their metabolites in plasma, brain and other tissues using mass spectrometry technology. These studies are published in numerous peer reviewed journals and are necessary for the on-going, VA-funded pharmacokinetic and toxicology study.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Any responsible sources who wish to identify their interest and capability to provide this equipment or equipment that is compatible must notify this Contracting Officer at Millicent.Covert@va.gov NLT Wednesday, November 16, 2022 by 11:59 AM EST.
