March 2010 Intent to sole source BrainSonix Pulsar 1002 15212-5319 36C24E19Q0078 N 334516 US Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Regional Procurement Office (RPO) East 323 North Shore Drive, Suite 500 Pittsburgh PA 15212-5319 lynn.portman@va.gov The Department of Veterans Affairs, Providence VA Medical Center intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with BrainSonix, Inc for the BrainSonix Pulsar 1002. The intended use of this device will be for VA research studies. This equipment will expand the ability to develop unique expertise in focused ultrasound interventions in Veterans suffering from neuropsychiatric illness including major depression, PTSD, and stroke. This system will enable the development of novel neurotechnologies for neurorestoration of Veterans, and help launch new Providence VAMC-based research programs in neuropsychiatric recovery and rehabilitation. This is the only system that can deliver millimeter precision, deep-brain, non-invasive stimulation; this is the only system that can deliver stimulation within an MRI environment which is required by the VA. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than May 20th, 2019, 4:00, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
